    The 24 Drinking Game

I found this on the imdb boards and thought it was hilarious (note: if you aren't 'of age', or are like me and just don't drink much, it's just as fun with soda, though a sugar rush may occur):

Wait for the weekend and pop in your 24 DVDs. Or play each week during Season three. Take a drink:

  • Every time someone calls someone else on a cell phone.
  • Every time someone dies while Jack is trying to get vital information from them.
  • Every time someone utters one of these phrases: "Make no mistake about it", or "You're going to have to trust me".
  • Every time Jack asks someone at CTU if they've heard from Kim--finish your drink if they have.
  • Every time Sherry Palmer reminds David how he got where he is today.
  • Every time Tony utters the phrase "All right look, uhhh..."

Or add your own rules. Fun fun :)

    Tune in Next Week....

I have got to stop watching the previews for the next show at the end of every episode. They're such spoilers. Having Jack yell 'The Virus is out!' in the advert was a bit of a letdown. Then again the virus really wasn't out in that actual episode. It was a classic fakeout because now we know the virus is in Kyle Singer (at least, that's what they're having us believe right now). And okay, I didn't see Tony getting shot coming at all as I mentioned before.

But after last week's show we left Chase stuck at CTU. next week according to the spoiler ad during the credits, Chase is in Salazar's cell beating the crap out of him. I'd rather not have known that.

I don't know, maybe I'm just pissy because I stumbled onto some 24 site listed on the FOX official site that talked about upcoming episodes before I had time to realise what I was reading. Now I feel totally spoiled because I just don't want to know what's coming up next. I'm digging the anticipation buildup each week. It's quite a little adrenaline rush to wake up Tuesday morning knowing that you finally get to find out what happens next and yet you still have to suffer through the whole freaking day to get there. I love it.

    Site Update

So yesterday I said I wanted to do a little more with the site, so today since it's a slow day here at work, I've added a forum for all things 24, everything from Kiefer's sweaty goodness to Kim's Ann Jillian hairdo.

Again, I know there are a lot of other 24 forums out there, but one more won't hurt :D I'm completely open to suggestions for new forums as well. So clickity-click and help get it off the ground. I know it totally sucks being the first person to post in a new forum but don't be shy! Oh and tell your friends. Spread the word. I want more 24 addicts!

Oh yeah, registration is free, quick, and painless. Some options I'm adding include the ability to use spoiler tags if necessary, random 24 quotes, and quick-replying.

    So what's the deal?

Why start yet another 24 blog? I don't know. I guess I wanted some outlet of my own to show the love for this excellent television show. So what makes me think anyone would give a rat's ass about what some chick in Nebraska thinks of 24? To be honest, I don't think anyone in their right mind would give a toss about what I think about 24. But I just started this site and the one thing I've learned about websites is that they totally evolve over time and I have plans for this one :)

I would love for fellow 24 fans to join 24 Addict and post their own thoughts on the show. I'd love to set up a special forum or chatroom for realtime discussion. Basically I just want to get this party started and see where it ends up. And frankly I was so gobsmacked that the domain name I wanted for this blog was available, that I jumped on it without much planning as to what I was gonna do with it :)

Anyway, if you or any other fan you might know are interested in blogging here, get yourself a blogger account (free!) and send me an email. You can blog anytime you like, so long as it's 24-related, and of course you can post your thoughts/complaints/speculations about season three as it happens :)

    Upon further reflection...

Ok I've had time to digest last night's show some more, and am following a thread about it on the KK forum and there are a few more things I'm thinking about. The main one being my slight disappointment at the big revelation about Anne. A spiteful ex-husband? Now, I know this could be a setup for a storyline involving Palmer maybe getting called on the blackmail thing by Keeler during the debate... Maybe Keeler was hoping Palmer would take the bait so he could announce on national television that Palmer offered a bribe to Anne's ex... Hmmmm.. That could be interesting. Ok so maybe the revelation could have more far-reaching ramifications than I had first thought.

One thing I've definitely got to do is stop watching the 'next week on 24' clips during the credits. they're far too spoiler-y because next week has Chase showing up at Salazar's cell to beat the crap out of him and I had thought the writers would have him get so pissed at being sidelined by Jack that he'd tell Kim about his addiction. Now I'm not so sure. And Michelle didn't seem too distraught about Tony getting shot so that leads me to think the wound is superficial.

    Anyway 3pm-4pm was definitely a gasp-out-loud show!

    Tony Tony.. :(

Disclaimer: Spoilerama. if you don't want to know because you haven't seen it, don't read further.

They finally let the boy out of CTU and what does he do? He goes and gets himself shot. Tsk tsk. But how great was that anyway? When Salazar's thug started walking toward Kyle after hanging up on Gael, I thought, how can he grab the kid without attracting attention from Tony and the guards? He'd give himself away. I never saw him shooting Tony coming.

Now, I'm writing this after just finishing tonight's episode, so everything's a little blurry because I can't for the life of me remember who the blonde doc was with Jack who called him on his addiction. If I remember right, it's someone who's known Jack for a long time, but I'm not clear on her professional role. I'll have to go watch it again.

Anyway, I think Chase is almost mad enough to tell Kim about Jack's heroin addiction. He nearly did it tonight damnit. I wanted to see her reaction. I'm starting to be a little irritated with her because I thought she was meant to be low-level, bottom of the ladder analyst. What's she doing sitting in on department head meetings and running traces? And handing med kits to Jack and Chase? Surely they could still run her storyline of dating Chase yet keep her at a proper job level. I don't know, it's just a bit much for me to handle. Though I'm still not as pissy about her role on the show over all three seasons as some people are. She's not all bad :)

I think it will also be fun to watch Jack struggle between wanting the dope and fighting it with his strong will. It's going to be wonderful to see Kiefer play both of those sides of his character. Giving Jack a huge private demon to deal with was a brilliant idea and I'm so looking forward to watching everything unfold.

    Off to replay the show.

    It's Tuesday!

Hurrah hurrah! Today is also Veteran's Day here in the states and that means I have to round up the VFW Color Guard and lead them around the hospital while they visit patients. Whee fun! My first media project. Hope I don't suck at it. When I took the job as webmaster, I never figured on having to deal with the media, or with marketing projects other than my own so this is kind of interesting to me. Plus it will be nice for the Vets and for our patients to have a nice, gentle reminder to honor those who've served our country.

Speaking of serving the country, it's 24 day! I hope I don't forget to pop the tape back in to record tonight. I will have to do very nasty things to myself if I miss taping an episode. I read somewhere that after last week when Fox re-broadcasted the premiere episode right before episode 2, that that would be the last time they repeat previous shows. So it's vital I record...

Anyway, I'll admit right here that I was a horrible person and I did not watch Season 1 and 2 when they were first shown. Why? What the hell was I thinking? Well to be honest, I have no idea. I remember first hearing that one of my fave actors would be starring in a TV show (Kiefer of course) and I remember thinking how cool and that I should be sure to watch. But for some reason, I just didn't. Then I heard from various people that the show is impossible to catch up on if you've missed episodes which was disheartening. So I ended up not watching. Then for the second season I think I'd forgotten all about it and was oblivious to the hype.

I could kick myself now though. I wish I'd watched from the start. But c'est la vie and thank Elvis for DVDs. I ended up renting the first disc of 24 from my local Blockbuster because there was fuck-all out movie-wise. So I figured I'd check it out and see if I liked it. Damn if I didn't watcht he first disc with my eyes glued to the screen and then head straight back to Blockbuster to rent the other five discs. I watched that show from start to finish in just under 24 hours. It was a bleary weekend to say the least but what a roller-coaster ride!! And to my eternal joy, Season 2 had just come out on DVD as well so you can guess what I did the following week. I couldn't watch it in a marathon viewing unfortunately, because of work etc, but I watched a disc every night, and holy cow the second season was just as fantastic. I cried, I gasped, I cringed. Jack saying goodbye to Kim on the plane absolutely gutted me.

Needless to say, I'm now the proud owner of seasons 1 & 2 on DVD. And I'll be first in line for Season 3 as well (why am I taping it then? Because I'm an impatient girl and I want to be able to re-watch the show right away.) I am finding it strange to have to sit through commercials though. I could definitely do without them. But for anyone thinking they'll just wait for the DVD to see it even though you love the show, you're missing out on the fun of anticipation waiting for next week's episode. I literally cannot wait to see how Jack deals with his problem, or how Kim gets into trouble this time. What is the info in Keeler's playbook about Anne? Will Sherry make an appearance? Or even Nina? I HAVE to know!!!

    Argh :)

    Catching up - 1pm-3pm

Right so.. I'd better catch up with the first 2 episodes of season three then go from there eh? I should start by saying that this blog's gonna be spoilerific so if you aren't watching, are waiting for the DVDs or are unfortunatel enough to be living outside the states where 24 hasn't aired yet, you might want to avoid reading all of this.

Anyway, after an agonizing wait, Season Three began (and I have to say the wait was even more torturous with that stupid Ford short in front of it. Urgh!) and I am happy to report that it did not disappoint at all. I can even buy Kim at CTU because let's face it, ridiculous situations or not, she always managed to get out of them and keep her cool. Besides, the writers make no bones about the fact that she got the job because of Jack. Hell even Jack says as much while explaining to Chase why she was at CTU.

Speaking of Chase - phwoar! He needs a bit more hair but other than that I like him so far. He's not afraid to stand up to Jack. Actually, I wasn't all that sure I'd like Jack having a partner but so far so good.

Tony and Michelle married... Well that's pretty cool actually. They seem happy together and neither of them are really field agents so the danger element isn't there as much as it is for Jack. I wonder if they'll be more tension between them as Michelle circumvents Tony and helps Jack out. Or maybe they're not doing much this season other than handling Intel. We'll see...

Palmer's dating the doc. Good for him! She's hot, smart, and so far doesn't seem to have ulteriror motives although last week's cliffhangar leads me to wonder if she's all that she seems to be. I hope she's not a baddy, I like the actress. I do not like Palmer's kid brother. He's a bit of a wanker. Novick gone bad and kicked up a notch. Should make for some great desk-pounding from Palmer as he gets frustrated by Wayne's dirty politics. It's so hard to be honorable.

And Jack.... and Jack. Oh that poor guy. I was gobsmacked at the end of the first episode - the intensity, the hopelessness... I was a bit confused however when Chase was telling him to 'get his head straight' because it never occurred to me that he was basically telling Jack to take a hit. Looking back it's blatantly obvious that's what he was doing, but when I first saw it, I admit I thought he was telling Jack to cut it out and then of course Jack doesn't listen and gets his gear out anyway. How stupid am I? Don't answer that. I like that Chase knows about Jack's smack habit and wants him to just do it and get it over with because frankly, it really is the wrong day to be stubborn about it and quit. BUT - Jack saved the vial so maybe we'll get to see Kiefer do some great drug acting. He better get the feckin' Emmy this next year. Chicklis has enough of them.

Best line of the show so far? Shutup stupid.

    An addiction

I'm addicted to 24. I need a fix every day. I'm not happy unless I read every update and news article I can get my grubby little hands on. How ironic that Season three finds Jack fighting his own addiction because in many ways, this show has become a substance I can't do without. I'm not planning on fighting it though.

So... Why did I create this blog when there are a million 24 blogs out there? Simple. This one is mine. I was spamming my other blog with my incessant chatter about the show and about Kiefer, so I figured I'd better start a new one just for 24 talk and spare my other readers who don't care about the show (the heathens!)

I don't really know yet what I'm going to write here except that I'll maybe post news articles as I find them, reactions to season three episodes (yes I know I'm a bit late but sue me, it didn't occur to me 2 weeks ago to start this blog.), and I'm afraid I will be doing some gushing over Kiefer Sutherland. Sorry, can't help it, the man is incredible and deffo praiseworthy. But I'll do my best to focus on the show as a whole, including the actors because I quite enjoy old Tony as well.

So yeah, welcome and all that stuff.
