    Request

I know a lot of you don't mind spoilers and stuff but I do. I hate them. I don't want to know what's going to happen. I purposely change the channel when the show's over so I can avoid the, "Next week on 24" promos. I jam my fingers in my hear and sing, "La la la la la la la" whenever an ad for the show comes on.

So could I please request that if you're going to comment on the promos for upcoming shows in my comments can you give a little warning so I can look away before I'm spoiled? That would be awesome guys, thank ya. Just put a big 'MELIA LOOK AWAY RIGHT NOW' before you discuss spoilers and I'd be a happy camper. Thanks!

    Gobsmacked Part Two

[Scroll down to the next entry to read Part One]

So CTU has briefed the President about where they stand with Henderson and the success Curtis had saving the people at the hospital.

And then Kim arrived at CTU. I've sort of been waiting for this since the season began. I don't care what the Kim-haters say, I have always liked her and I don't care who knows it. So I'm interested in the father-daughter reunion because while I love me some Action Jack, I also love to see the personal side of him.

Audrey calls Jack and suggests that it might be easier for Kim to process the news that Jack's alive if she hears it first before being confronted by the sight of him unprepared. I think that was a smashing idea. So when she tells Kim, she's met with stunned silence. Kim arrived at CTU with a man - looks like an older man and we find out later he's a shrink. Now, if he's there as her shrink or as her shrink-cum-boyfriend we don't quite know yet. And as Jack rides back to CTU with Henderson (who is yammering on about how he's not hurting the country, he's protecting it. But he won't say from what) Jack learns that Chase left Kim not long after he "died." What a dick. I thought better of Chase.

So while she's dealing with that, the President calls in his Veep. Apparently the Veep has a bit of an agenda and recommends to Logan that "Pre-emptive martial law" be declared but Mike is not happy about that. But Logan is. Because someone walked into the room and started giving him a plan - in other words, someone started to take the burden of you know, actually running the country, off his shoulders so he could go back to making public appearances and waving at the cameras while smarter people do all the work.

Aaaaaaanyway, Bierko's flunky has altered McGill's keycard with his likeness (but McGill's info) and waltzed into CTU with a smirk on his face. Three guess as to what the git has in his briefcase. Yep - as soon as he guy walked into a ventilation room in CTU I blurted, "Oh shit oh shit oh shit" before I remembered my daughter was in the room. So now I am spitting soap bubbles as I write this.

And now Jack's back. Henderson's taken to holding and Jack has to reunite with Kim. He's nervous and scared. Funny how Jack can think nothing of having to crawl under floorboards to escape a bomb but seeing Kim makes him stammer and fidget nervously. It's endearing, and it's what makes the character of Jack so much more than just some superagent you know?

The reunion scene was great I thought. I didn't know what to expect really. I half-wanted Kim to fling herself into her daddy's arms but I guess she's got some issues - that and she doesn't fully understand the danger she was in at all. She's mistaken in that she thinks Jack didn't trust her to know. But later when Kim finds out (from Chloe of course - I'm telling you Chloe is an oracle. Always listen to her and her blunt little statements about life. She's always right.) that Michelle was killed, Palmer was killed and Tony was almost killed - three of the four people who knew Jack was alive are dead or nearly so. And Chloe herself was almost killed until Jack saved her. When Kim finds all this out I think her shell began to soften.

In the clinic, a very distraught and grief-stricken Tony forces Buchanan to tell him whatever he can about who killed Michelle. Buchanan relents a little and tells him that one of the leads they have is Henderson - a man Tony knew as well as Jack. Tony begs Buchanan not to let him cut a deal. He wants revenge you can tell.

Off in an interrogation room, Henderson is strapped in and about to endure some torture. Jack looks on impassively while the Dreaded Shot of Liquid Pain is given to him by another Johnson. Henderson does not cave.

Next we learn that Martha's a closet smoker. Heheh. She's trying to sneak a puff but Mike interrrupts to plea with her to make up with Logan because he knows Logan will listen to Martha. He explains the difficulty the president had with his decision and Martha is swayed. She goes to Logan and lets him know she's sort of forgiven him. And gives him a bit of a pep talk too so he can get back on track. Mushy mushy, enough of that.

Meanwhile poor CTU analyst, Carrie, is sent off to her death by *sniffle* Edgar when she reports an anamoly to him. He's too busy so he sends her to investigate it. Little do they know it's the flunky setting the timer on the nerve gas. She gets a blade in her spinal chord for her troubles just as she spots the canister and whips out her phone.

[We interrupt this recap to SQUEEEEE over the new X-men 3 trailer. "SQUEEEEEE!!" Back to the recap.]

At CTU Buchanan has the unhappy job of telling McGill that his sister was shot and killed. When he learns the boyfriend is dead and they were killed by professionals Lynn finally admits they had his keycard. A search of the gate logs show that McGill's card was used to get into the building and a lockdown is initiated.

As the search begins for the flunky, Edgar goes to look for the analyst he sent off and discovers her dead body. The flunky is loose and manages to grab a security guard (red shirt, hehe) to use as a means to escape the building, but that fails so he shoots the guard and takes his radio so he can monitor where they are searching for him. When Jack discovers the body he figures that out though and tricks him. When Jack yells, "Freeze!" it was amusing to see the flunky actually jump like Jack said, "Boo!"

Jack was unable to get the flunky without shooting him but he finds a PDA with CTU's schematics on it and figures out that nerve gas is in the building. An evac is ordered but too late! The canister releases the gas and people start dropping as it filters from the outer rooms in. Chloe quickly finds several rooms that can be sealed and Kim, Chloe, Audrey, Buchanan, Kim's shrink/bf, and Jack make it into one of them.

But Edgar doesn't :( he was looking for Carrie and did not get back to the floor in time before everything was sealed. Watching him stare in horror at Chloe as he realized his fate, and as he sank to the floor while Chloe cried for him... So sad. So awful. I loved the chemistry between Chloe and Edgar. It will be missed.

And for anyone secretly hoping he's still alive and can be revived... I hate to break it to you but they closed with the silent clock. He's gone.

An incredible night tonight. I'm exhausted just writing about it. 24 is having an incredible year.

    Gobsmacked Part One

What the... but... but... *blink* guh...

And that about sums me up right now. A bunch of sputtering blinks. I've been punched in the gut and I can't get my breath back. But I'll try to muddle through a 2 hour recap.

First of all, Tony is awake but still unaware of Michelle's death. Buchanan went to see him and thought he should know about Michelle but the doc said no. The grief would not help his recovery. So reluctantly, Bill lies to poor bandaged Tony and sort of dodges tony's first question to him about Michelle's status. How beautiful is it that Tony's first thought is for Michelle. I love Tony.

After Bill gives Tony a brief update as to what happened, he leaves and we move on to the Suvarovs and Martha. All are pretty shaken to say the least. As Aaron approaches Martha she loses her composure and admits to Aaron that the President knew about the attack - and that he had given the terrorist the motorcade info. Aaron is as stunned as Aaron can be considering Glen Morshower is a model of emotional restraint. They're flown back to the compund where Logan continues to act like the pussy he is. I've really only got one word for him for this whole episode: "Duh." I want to just take my hands and squeeze his weenie little neck. I doubt he'd put up much of a fight, the little fink.

Cut to McGill's junkie sister and her loser boyfriend. Apparently the boyfriend somehow is connected to the terrorists because he's selling them McGill's keycard. So that leads me to believe that he got Lynn's sister to mug him not for his cash and credit, but for the keycard because he was told to by the terrorists. This means the terrorists (I'm just going to refer to the terrorists as Bierko from now on because I keep typoing 'terrorist' and it's pissing me off. Apparently 'Bierko's much easier.) somehow knew about McGill's sister and her habit. Hmmmm... And back at CTU, McGill is getting panicky about not having the keycard and he has Buchanan agree to let him use a phone to call her to try and get it back. No luck though.

Back to Jack now and he's walking away from yet another close call and he's on the phone with Chloe trying to track down Henderson. Chloe discovers a data flow that leads Jack right to Henderson's own home. Since Henderson thinks Jack is dead, Jack decides he should approach his house alone rather than sending a team.

So while Jack's driving to the house, Curtis discovers a schematic on one of Bierko's flunkies that Chloe and *sniffle* Edgar need to match from a database. It takes them a little while but eventually they discover that it's the ventilation system at a large hospital. the schematic also had a time written in the corner - within the hour (of course.)

Back at the ranch Martha arrives... and Martha is PISSED. I love it when she shames Logan. God I really cannot stand the man. I don't know if it's the actor or what but *shudder* For the rest of the episode Martha refuses to speak to Logan. But she does talk to Aaron and thanks him... and holds his hand - just as Mike walks in. Geesh that was cheesy. But I wonder if Martha wasn't just looking for some of Aaron's strength in a moment when she wasn't getting it from her own husband, know what I mean? Who knows, maybe she was trying to put a little move on him, but somehow I don't think so.

Ohhhhhhhh Tony is a smart man. he can tell the doc is dodging his questions. So when he's left alone he sneaks out to a terminal and discovers the horrible truth about Michelle. He's confronted with graphic photos of her body. The anguished look on his face... it was devastating.

Curtis is dispatched to the hospital to help with evacuation and to try and locate the t-e-r-r-o-r-i-s-t who might be trying to plant the nerve gas. It's a huge hospital thought with over 600 patients some of whom can't be moved. They carry on getting as masny out as they can while Curtis hunts Bierko's flunky. I initially thought maybe it's the wrong hospital but a cutaway shot of the ter- flunky pushing the nerve gas under a gurney around shows they're in the right place. It's a damn close call but even though they were unable to disarm the timer on the canister they were able to run through the hospital with past all the patients and get it into an airtight container. I had a moment when I wondered why he would be running with it out into the crowds of people he just had evacuated but then I saw the van and I stopped questioning Curtis. The flunky was killed though and they were unable to question him.

Meanwhile Jack arrives at Henderson's home and finds his wife there. No Henderson though but Jack takes a chance and decides to see if the computer there is the one receving data from henderson's work computer. He confronts Miriam (Henderson's wife) and has her sit quietly (at gunpoint) while he and Chloe try to hack the computer. of course Miriam has been snowed by Henderson and sort of annoys Jack with her denials of any wrongdoing. She unquestioningly believes in his innocence.

Chloe finds hidden stuff on the computer but is unable to access it - and Henderson himself arrives ("Honey! I'm home!")

But Jack surprised the hell out of him :) it was very amusing. In an incredible scene Jack has a cuffed Henderson sit next to his wife and begins grilling him. Miriam screams more denials - until Jack empties Henderson's Briefcase O' Cash on the table. Suddenly things are different. Disbelief shadows her face as she begins to realize her husband has lied to her all along.

But he refuses to spill the beans to Jack even when Jack holds his gun to his knee in his classic "Don't think I won't do it" move. But Henderson apparently trained Jack and knows every interrogation trick in the book and is not moved by it. But he made a mistake by telling his wife the old, "I did it to protect you dear" line. Jack inteprets that to mean Henderson will endure anything but his wife is weak point. So what does Jack do? He SHOOTS HIS WIFE IN THE THIGH! Holy fucking hell that blew my mind. I think it blew her mind too but the bullethole was distracting her.

    Wow.

And you know what? Henderson still didn't crack because his wife is NOT the weak point and Jack realized his mistake right away. He knows he'll have to bring him into CTU.

    Damn damn damn.

The final scene of the hour is another of Bierko's flunkies at McGill's sister's place, taking the keycard and executing her and her boyfriend.

    Damn damn damn.

    2 hours tonight

Time is moving inordinately slow this evening while I wait for the special 2 hour 24. *taps foot impatiently*

Not tonight but maybe for next week I might try liveblogging during the show. Posting during commercials or something. It might not be as fun watching the show though if I have to write during it... Hmmmm.. Maybe I'll just test it and see if it sucks.

La la la. is it time yet? Damn ten minutes to go. Argh.
