“I want it to matter.” 4am – 5am
I’m afraid I have to whip through this recap tonight, I’ve got a lot of things going on at this point in time, so I apologise in advance if this recap seems less-detailed than usual. It’s a busy time of year for those of us with Seniors about to graduate
Anyway, we begin with Tony and his new hostage/fall guy. Tony’s crew is busy falsifying data on the poor kid’s computers to make it look like whatever act Tony’s about to pull off is his fault. Tony gives the kid a statement he’s meant to read but the kid is upset and sobs more as he looks it over.
Back at the FBI, Chloe’s got the CTU servers up and running but isn’t having any luck in the search for possible extremists. Jack has her widen the search to include every Muslim in the DC area who works in a sensitive government capacity or in a potential target area. This gets Janice’s back up and she starts banging on about racial profiling. But this time, Jack doesn’t shout at her, instead he calmly tells her that he doesn’t like it either, but that Hodges specifically mentioned Muslim activity.
As Jack continues to give instructions to Chloe, he has another memory glitch. As he leaves to give himself another shot of anti-seizure meds, Janice and Walker are forced to tell Chloe what’s wrong with Jack. The scene was so moving that I had to watch it all the way through without stopping to recap. But Chloe, sat silently, tears running down her face as she watched him inject himself. He tells her it’s ok. That he’s accepted it. “Whatever time I’ve got left, I want it to matter.” he tells her. “We need to find Tony.”
Back at the Kid’s apartment, Jibraan is standing in front of an Islamic banner and reading Tony’s statement when they are interrupted by DCPD who are investigating a call from the neighbours. Tony forces Jibraan to convince the cops to go away which he manages to do and they carry on with the message.
Back at FBI, Chloe hits on Jibraan’s name and the false data FakeLawyer created. They don’t have an address on Jibraan, but found a contact at Jibraan’s mosque – the Imam there. (I’m really not sure how to spell that.)
In the White House, Olivia meets with her dodgy fella and spills the beans on Hodges, hands the guy the intinerary on Hodge’s release into Witness Protection. The guy, Martin, says he will get her a price and all that hitman stuff. As he leaves her office, Aaron looks on suspiciously. I think he’s on to her.
Speaking of Hodges, the guy from Witness Protection arrives to prep him for departure and Hodges is pitching a hissy like a little girl at having to change his name. Wuss.
Jack and Walker arrive at the Mosque and ring for the Imam who recognizes Jack and is reluctant to talk to them. As they question him, the verbal battle heats up as the Imam rightly refuses to give any information without a warrant and jack get tetchy about the man’s unwillingness to help. They go nose-to-nose and enter into a staring game when Walker gets a call from Janice. They have an address from the DCPD who recognized the photo of Jibraan that the FBI sent out. Jack then forces the Imam to come with them because he doesn’t want him to warn Jibraan.
At Jibraan’s place, Tony has his crew wake up Jibraan’s brother, and he forces Jibraan to lie/admit to his brother that he’s really a terrorist.
Meanwhile, Olivia receives the call from the hitman and merely needs to transfer funds as a “go-ahead” to carry out the hit on Hodges. She dithers and ultimately cancels the money transfer. She called Martin and leaves him a message saying she decided to take his advice and walk away. She then goes to see her father who has been moved to the White House.
As Jack and Walker head to Jibraan’s, Chloe finds discrepencies in the timestamps of the fake data in his accounts that proves that Jibraan is being set up by Tony. The Imam is surprised that Jack would admit to this – to being wrong. In his experience, the authorities would let an innocent man be captured or killed without a second thought. He tells jack he forgives him. Jack says he wasn’t asking for his forgiveness, and the Imam replies, saying then at least he hopes Jack can forgive himself. “I gave up on that a long time ago.” he responds.
Back at the White House, the President is visiting her husband. Olivia joins them and repents a little on making the decision to release Hodges to Witness protection harder for her mother. Touching. If she made an attempt to look sincere, I missed it.
As Hodges – not known as Mr. Robert Tippet – begins his transport, he’s placed in a vehicle and as his guard goes to get some papers signed by the prison guard, the vehicle explodes. Byebye Hodges. Now, did the hitman carry out the kill anyway? Did Olivia go back and change her mind again? Or did someone else kill him?
As the President learns abotu Hodges, Olivia makes a panic call to Martin. Aaron is oddly nearby, I’m wondering how much he heard…. Anyway, so we know that olivia didn’t re-change her mind, but now she’s in full panic mode and sets up a meet with Martin.
Meanwhile, Jack and Walker arrive at Jibraan’s and advance teams have learned Tony is long gone, along with Jibraan, but Jibraan’s brother was left behind with a guard. Jack tells the team it is imperative to catch the guard alive so he can be grilled for leads. Jack asks to run point and Walker agrees. The Imam takes Walker aside and says maybe Jack shouldn’t because he doesn’t look very good. So Walker tells him about Jack and why he’s doing what he’s doing.
The teams move in. As they bust in the door, Jibraan’s feisty little bro smashes a mirror and plunges a shard into the guard’s neck. As Jack works to save the guy’s life, Tony, Jibraan and the crew prepare to launch their attack on a DC metro subway station…
*gulp*

I don't know what Chloe would do if Jack actually died.
I think she would taser him to revive him. Anyway, it's so nice to she her back in action.
