About the Addict
My name is Melia, and I’m addicted to 24.
And after 5 years now, I’m still addicted to 24. I got into it thanks to the first season DVDs (I know, I know. Why wasn’t I watching it from the start? Sadly, I have a habit of not getting into shows right away.) I rented ‘em, devoured ‘em, and have sat riveted week after week, DVD after DVD, through the good, the bad, and the awesome.
I’ll be blunt and tell you that it’s Kiefer that I love most. Longtime fan of his and he never gives a bad performance on the show. But I have other faves
Chloe, Michelle, Edgar, yes even Milo. I hated President Logan, loved Mad Martha and I wanna go for coffee with Buchanan. But Kiefer.. Man oh man. He is truly great.
Recently I was interviewed about being a 24 fan and when during the Q&A, I was taken aback to discover that 24 is considered a conservative show. Dick Cheney and Michael Chertoff are among the show’s fans.
I want it known that I’m no conservative. I can’t wait for January 9th, 2009 when Ding Dong Bush is Gone. In all the time I’ve watched the show, I never picked up any conservative, republican-friendly vibe. I never picked any liberal, Democrat-friendly vibe either. I’m not watching it for that, but I suppose you can see and extrapolate whatever you want from a show like 24.
Me, I’m in it for the characters. The hard decisions. The angst. The quirks of Chloe. The quiet intensity of Buchanan. Tony’s trademark Cubs mug. Jack’s Thighs of Doom. Ohh yeah.
