we can't ignore the possibilities that this country is support the Second
Wave. AMBASSADOR:
We want to prevent this incident. SELINE: We
need access to your files. PALMER: I want
you to monitor how they use our intel. KATE WARNER:
There's a man here who needs to talk to you. REZA NAIYEER:
Who is he? KATE: He's

Ah-ha. How do you explain the fact that his name is in your personal computer

Miguel, get over here please. [Miguel exits
cab.] KIM: He said
there's a nuclear bomb in the city. MIGUEL: Then
let's get outta here! KIM: No we
can't not without Megan. ------------------------------- JACK: George!
I got to Wald! I found out who commissioned him to take out CTU. GEORGE MASON:
Who was it? JACK: Nina
Myers. MASON: Nina...?
Nina killed your wife! I don't want you anywhere near her. ------------------------------- PALMER: We're
gonna have to grant her a shadow asylum. JACK: That
sounds like a pardon sir. PALMER: She
has information which can help us find this bomb. MICHELLE: What
is it? JACK: They're
gonna let her go. JACK: George
I know you were exposed to high levels of radioactive material this morning.
I want to know what your plans are for Nina. I want the case! I know how she
thinks. If you don't do this, I'll phone District, tell them about your condition,
they'll have you replaced within minutes. The following takes place between 1.00PM
and 2.00PM. MASON: Palmer
just signed the pardon, so as soon as it gets here... We can start the interrogation.
MICHELLE DESSLER:
Nina's file.. JACK: I don't
need it. ------------------------ [Shot of President
Palmer gets out of car with Lynne Kresge. Press bothers and chatters.] PALMER: We
cannot dispatch anymore information about the crash until the families of
the victim had been notified. But I promise you, there will be a careful and
thorough investigation. [Palmer leaves
with Kresge.] Palmer: Let's
go. GINNY: Everyone
please, we will be putting out a formal statement as soon as get those issues
resolved. And I ask everyone to refrain from speculation until that time.
PALMER: Now
I don't want anyone outside of Ginny reveal any information about the crash;
no names, no speculation. We keep the lid tight. KRESGE: Absolutely
sir. [Shot of Sherry
entering.] SHERRY PALMER:
Hello David. DAVID PALMER:
How did you get in here without my authorization? SHERRY: We
were married for many years. Many people respect that even if you don't. I
need to talk to you. PALMER: We
have nothing more to talk about. You're not my wife anymore Sherry. SHERRY: It's
not, about us. PALMER: Then.
What? SHERRY: Not
here. I need to be alone with you. PALMER: You
know what? Even if I'm interested in what you have to say, today isn't possible.
You shouldn't have come here. SHERRY: It's
about your administration. PALMER: What
about it? SHERRY: Just
give me 5 minutes. PALMER: Don't
have time now. SHERRY: Did
you order of military evacuation out of PALMER: Who
told you that? SHERRY: 5 minutes
David. PALMER: Wait
here. I'll call you. [Palmer exits
room with Kresge.] PALMER: Do
you know anything about the military personnel moving out of KRESGE: Sir,
no! You specifically ordered that there'll be no evacuation. PALMER: Check
into it. KRESGE: I certainly
will. [Cut to the
Warner house where Tony is interrogating Reza.] TONY ALMEIDA:
You do business with a known terrorist, and you're gonna sit there with a
straight face and tell me you don't know what's going on? REZA NAIYEER:
I grew up in TONY: Our main
target, are European Muslims, with western education, passports, and a potential
to blend into western society. So tell me Reza, how's my racial profiling
going now. REZA: I want
a lawyer. TONY (Whispers):
No. [Cut to Palmer
and Stanton.] PALMER: Did
they find the black box yet? PALMER: Dammit
Roger how can something like this happen? PALMER: Lynne,
schedule a call with the Prime Minister as soon as possible. KRESGE: Yes
sir. PALMER: I want
to talk to him before the rumors start. But I'm afraid that they will not
be far from the truth. This was not an accident. PALMER: It's
not the possibility Roger. KRESGE: That
we did it. PALMER: Correct.
PALMER: The
Ambassador's taking classified information back to his government. Both of
you thought it was a questionable call. KRESGE: And
if we're talking about it here sir, I bet that there'll be others back in
DC that feel even more strongly. PALMER: Set
up a independent investigator. Let's find out who exactly was
in the loop. KRESGE: Yes
sir. [Cut back to
Mason at CTU. He coughs and sniffs.] MASON: Okay,
that's it. Here we go. JACK: I'll
show her this and start talking. Then I'll get you everything you want. And
stuff she doesn't want us to know. MASON: Jack,
I don't mean to remind you but the last time I let you interrogate somebody,
you shot them at the heart. I'll let you do this but I hope I'm not making
a mistake. JACK: No mistake
George. MASON: Then
alright. Good luck. [Shot of Jack
as he lays pardon on table. Michelle and Mason watches from surveillance TVs.]
NINA: Let's
keep this simple. If you want to stop the bomb, I have to be on a plane to
JACK: Did you
pick NINA: My contact
is in JACK: Who is
it? NINA: The only
person who can tell us where the bomb is. I'm not gonna tell you who it is
till we get there. JACK: Fine.
Then you can sit here and wait for the blast to hit. NINA: Stop
wasting time. I'm sitting here looking at the President's signature. JACK: I'm here.
He's not. And I'm not gonna make a move until I believe you're credible. NINA: I'll
only get the pardon if I stop the bomb. Why wouldn't I do everything I can?
JACK: Because
you're worse than a traitor Nina. You don't have a cause. You don't believe
in anything. But you would sell anyone and anything out to the highest bidder.
SO STOP WASTING MY TIME! GIMME A NAME! [Jack throws
over the table.] NINA: Don't
even bother Jack. If you lay a hand on me, you'll be taken off the case. [Cut to Michelle
and George watching from the TVs.] NINA: You're
just gonna have to follow my lead. [Jack pushes
Nina against the wall, choking her. Mason starts running towards the door.]
JACK: You're
gonna tell me everything I wanna know, or I swear to God, I will hurt you
before I kill you and no one will stop me. Do you understand? MASON: Open
the door! Open it! [Guards open
door.] MASON: Jack!
Let her go! Now! [Jack lets
go. Nina gasps. George takes Jack outside.] MASON: Alright,
you're done. Get outta here. JACK: Why?
MASON: Why?
Because you've lost it. That's why. JACK: George,
right now she thinks she won the lottery, she's in control. You want her to
tell the truth, you take that away from her. MASON: By killing
her? That'll work. [George chuckles
sarcastically.] JACK: No, by
giving her someone to answer to, someone to be afraid of. She has to believe
I'd be willing to put my revenge over finding this bomb. MASON: And
you're telling me you're not. JACK: George,
it had to look like that! Look at me. There's no emotion here. Now look at
her. MASON: Let's
say for the time being that you made your point, what would your next move
be? JACK: You let
me go back in there; show her that I have the power to do anything I want
to her. MASON: If I
let you go back in there, you've got- JACK: All I
need is 5 minutes. Just don't let anyone in that room. And raise the thermostat
ten degrees. Are you gonna let me have 5 minutes? MASON: Yeah.
JACK: Thank

27.. 28.. 29 **Fades out.** 01:17:52..
53.. 54.. 55.. 56.. [Cut to Kate
and Marie at their house.] KATE: We need
to talk. MARIE: I told
you to leave. KATE: Well.. I'm not leaving. I'm your sister, and you can stay angry
with me but we need to figure out what we need to do. MARIE: Do about
what? KATE: Wedding.
We may have to cancel. MARIE: That
would make you happy wouldn't it? Isn't that what you wanted all along? KATE: No, not
the marriage Marie; just the wedding. We can't do it today. Let me help you
take care of it. MARIE: You
are always pretending you wanna help me. KATE: Pretending?
I dropped out of school when Mom died to take care of you, to keep this family
together! MARIE: So you'd
have an excuse for not having a relationship. You can always say, dad needs
me, Marie needs me. Now that I don't need you anymore, you can't handle it!
KATE: I made
sacrifices because- MARIE: Then
stop! Mom died a long time ago! So get your own life and stay outta mine!
We are not canceling this wedding! [Marie exits,
slams door.] [Cut to Miguel
and Kim wandering through the hospital.] KIM: She's
not in intensive care, she's no in the east wing. She's gotta be up here.
MIGUEL: How
much time do we have to this nuke? KIM: I don't
know. MIGUEL: What
if Megan doesn't wanna come with us? KIM: I don't
know. That's him. DOCTOR: Mr.
Matheson? The MRI confirmed that the pressure on the brain was the result
of the concussion. GARY MATHESON:
Meaning? DOCTOR: That
we won't release her until questions about the sources of her injuries are
resolved. DOCTOR: Good.
I'll check in on her at the end of my rounds. [ DOCTOR: And
Mr. Matheson, no cell phones in the hospital. They interfere with the equipment.
[ MEGAN: Daddy,
are you still made at me? OPERATOR: Mr.
Matheson's office. [Cut back to
Jack in Nina’s holding room.] JACK: Who is
the man in [Jack takes
out gun and shoots two wholes in the wall just above Nina.] JACK: WHO IS
THE MAN IN NINA: Mamud
Faheen. The man in JACK: That's
not news. We've got his name. NINA: But you
don't know where he is. I do! JACK: What's
the history of the relationship? NINA: He introduced
me to Wald. JACK: So that
Wald could buy the schematics for CTU and blow it up as a diversion for a
nuclear strike?! NINA: I didn't
know it was a larger plan to detonate a nuclear device! JACK: Then
why are you so sure Faheen's involved? NINA: Because,
before I was arrested, I heard hints that Faheen's involved with something
in JACK: Where
is he in NINA: I'm not
gonna give you his location until we get there. If you could get to him, you
wouldn't need me anymore; my deal wouldn't do me much good if I'm dead! MASON: Get
me Vasalia. [Cut to Kresge
and Palmer.] KRESGE: Sir...
Sherry was right. An evacuation of military personnel and resources began
about an hour ago, which mean this stage, it's well underway. PALMER: Do
we know where this order came from? KRESGE: Yes
we do sir. Roger Stanton. PALMER: Countermand
the evacuation on my authority. All forces already moving are to return to
their bases immediately. KRESGE: Yes
sir. PALMER: Roger,
in my office please. KRESGE (Phone):
Janet? Hi, this is Lynne, I'm gonna need contacts for the following bases:
Point Mugu, PALMER: Roger
I just got word that military resources were being moved out of PALMER: On
your order. PALMER: No.
I told Rayburn not to trigger any evacuation. PALMER: we'll
worry about that later. I just told Lynne to countermand the evacuation
order. Make sure it happens immediately. [Palmer presses
phone.] OPERATOR: Can
I help you Mr. President? PALMER: Yes,
tell Sherry I'll meet with her in 20 minutes. [Cut to GARY MATHESON:
You know how much Daddy loves you, don't you? And you know how sorry I am
that my little angel ever got hurt right? [ MEGAN: Okay.
[The door opens.]
DOCTOR: Mr.
Matheson? There's a call for you. DOCTOR: You
can take it at the nurses' station. DOCTOR: Because
we don’t have phones in the rooms unless you order one! [Doctor chats
to another patient's family, spots DOCTOR: The
phone's right in there. MIGUEL (on
the phone.): Mr. Matheson? MIGUEL: This
is Trey Williams in Accounts Receivable, it
seems that our computers crashed, and we lost a lot of your billing information.
So if we could just go over it again.. MIGUEL: no,
we need it now sir. If you'd like, I could send someone up to your daughter's
room. [Kim enters
Megan's room.] MEGAN: Hi Kim.
KIM: Hi sweetie.
Listen do you trust me? MEGAN: Yes.
KIM: I need
to get you out of here and I can't explain why. All I can tell you is that
I'm doing this because I love you and I want you to be safe, okay? MEGAN: Okay.
KIM: Come on.
MIGUEL: The
expiration date? MIGUEL: Great!
Now, we could just go over your billing address? MIGUEL: Mr.
Matheson? [Hangs
up.] [ NURSE: Did
you try the bathroom? NURSE: She
might have been taken to radiology. NUSE: Yes,
of course. [ 01:28:25.. 26.. 27.. 28 01:32:40.. 42.. 43.. 44.. 45.. [Shot of Kim
and Megan run down stairs.] MEGAN: Where
are we going Kim? KIM: I told
you Megan, you have to trust me. MIGUEL: I just
got off the phone, come on! MEGAN: Okay.
I changed my mind. I don't want to go. My daddy's gonna get really mad, and
then he's gonna hurt me. I don't wanna go. KIM: We need
to get outta here because your daddy's hurting you, and your mom is trying
to stop him but she can't. MEGAN: Mom....
KIM: He's gonna
keep hurting you unless you leave with us right now! That's the only way anyone's
gonna stop him. Do you understand me? The only way! NURSE: Called
all the departments, your daughter's not with any of them. NURSE: I'm
trying to figure that out Mr. Matheson. Did you see anyone go near her room?
KIM: Megan,
I need you to breathe and calm down. And stop crying, so we can leave now,
okay? MIGUEL: Come
on! MEGAN: I miss
my mom. I want my mom! KIM: I know.
Come on with me, I know. RADIO: Look
out for a nine-year-old girl with blonde hair, striped top, and blue jeans.
[Miguel, Kim,
and Megan dodges past some people and goes near the door.
] COP: I got
[They go the
other way.] KIM: In there!
[Cut back to
CTU] MASON: Just
got a team on the ground in JACK: I can
handle her myself. MASON: That's
not what I'm worried about. JACK: George
you think I'd sentence millions to death just for the satisfaction of killing
her? [Mason shrugs.]
JACK: I'll
do my job. MASON: And
I'm just sending Miller along to make sure of that. [Nina is escorted
out with several guards, in chains. Jack follows. Mason coughs terribly.]
JACK: You should
go be with your family. MASON: you
should get on a place. [Mason laughs.]
JACK: I'll
call you when we're in the air. MASON: Yeah.
Good. [Cut to Sherry
and David.] SHERRY: David...
PALMER: How
did you find out about the military evacuation? SHERRY: I made
some phone calls. Just following up on a rumor. I
can't tell you anymore than that. PALMER: Oh
you will tell me more, and I will not ask you again. SHERRY: I am
not a member of your staff David. I am your wife. PALMER: Ex-wife.
And you will tell me because of the safety and security of this country,
it's more important then any of your power plays. SHERRY: Yeah.
Despite everything that’s happened, I love you. PALMER: Oh
don't! SHERRY: Oh!
I always will! And whether if you want to believe it or not, everything that I have
done, has been in your best interest. If you won't give me a second
chance at your heart, let me help in the ways you know I can! And I can't
help you in any way David, unless you give me some idea of what you're facing!
[Sherry scoffs.]
SHERRY: I was
able to find something your own staff couldn't find! David, I didn't have
to warn you, I came here on my own accord. PALMER: Terrorist
has planned a strike against SHERRY: What
kind of strike? PALMER: Nuclear.
SHERRY: Oh
my g-. Oh my god... PALMER: Talk
to me Sherry. Come on! SHERRY: I-I
got the information about the military evacuation from someone inside the
defence department. PALMER: Who?
SHERRY: A high-level
staffer. He's in the loop, he owed me a favor. But there's something more
important... He also told me that there are members of your own administration
allying against you. They want control of your presidency, that's why I came
here today. PALMER: Who
Sherry? SHERRY: People
who disagree with your policies, who want to impose their will on the country.
There have been deals made under the table David, back-room promises. Now
I can keep digging, find out! If you want my help...
PALMER: If
I accept your help, it won't be about us. It'll be about doing what's best
for the country. SHERRY: Oh
sweetheart, you can call it anything you want. PALMER: I'll
get you a secure line and a private place to make your calls. SHERRY: Then
I'll come to you as soon as I find out more. PALMER: This
had better not be one of your manipulations. The stakes are too high. 01:39:09.. 10.. 11.. 01:43:35.. 36.. 37.. 38.. 39.. 40.. [Cut to Kate
at the home.] KATE: Dad?
BOB: Hm? KATE: Reza's
parents are here. BOB: I'm the
phone with your grandparents- I'll be right there. [Doorbell rings.]
KATE: Oh! You're
here! Welcome! REZA'S DAD(HASSAN):
So nice to see you Kate! KATE: Come
on in! REZA'S MOM(RIMA):
Thank you! The house looks beautiful. KATE: Oh! Thank
you! well you must be tired, let's go into the living room. HASSAN: So,
how is everyone holding up? KATE: Not too
bad! RIMA: Where
is Reza? KATE: Uhm..
Well, there is a small problem we're dealing with. HASSAN: What
kind of problem? KATE: Uhm..
Some men from the government are here talking to him. HASSAN: About..?
KATE: It's
a criminal investigation. HASSAN: Criminal
investigation. I don't understand. KATE: It's
very complicated. RIMA: Kate,
what is going on? KATE: I think
it would be best if Reza told you himself. HASSAN: Told
us what?! KATE: They're
talking to Reza about his possible involvement in terrorist activities. HASSAN: That
is absurd! RIMA: There
must a mistake! KATE: That’s
what they're trying to find out. HASSAN: You
see? Your country, you talk about tolerance, you talk about freedom, but you
treat every middle-easterner like he was a terrorist! KATE: No! No!
Of course not! I'm sure it'll all get sorted out. BOB: Rima...
Hassan... HASSAN: Bob!
Do you know about this?! BOB: Well,
they just showed up about an hour ago. I know nothing else. I'm sorry. Listen...
Don't worry; I'm sure it's nothing. [Cut to hospital.] MIGUEL: Wait
for me in the parking lot.. If it's more than 10
minutes, it means they caught me, so take off without me. KIM: You can't
let them. We're gonna leave, all together. Okay? Miguel..
Thank you. [Kim kisses
Miguel.] KIM: Are you
okay to walk by yourself? Yeah? Good girl. [Miguel
grab's hospital's computer monitor.] GUARD: Hey!
Hey! GUARD (RADIO):
I got a male Hispanic, early 20s, running out with a computer monitor! Hey,
come on! [Kim
and Megan] exits.
KIM: Shh...
GUARD: Go that
way! Go that way! [Miguel hides
behind dumpster. Throws monitor in dumpster. Megan and Kim walks
out to car. [Cut to Nina
shackled to the car. Jack and partner Ed Millers sitting
opposite.] NINA: So Ed,
how are ya. ED: Don't bother
Nina. I'm here because I have to be, not because I'm your friend. NINA: You're
here because they think, after I help stop the bomb, Jack will try to kill
me. Which of course he will. [Jack hands
Ed a bottle of water, opened, drinks another himself. ]
NINA: And what
if you can't stop him. I mean, no offence, but Ed, let's face it. You're no
match for Jack. You're just not that ruthless. So he manages to get around
and pull the trigger, what happens then? Because of the
pardon. He knows if he kills me, he'll spend the rest of his life in
jail. [Ed and Jack
drinks water.] ED: Jack, if
you have some way to shut her up I'm not thinking of..
NINA: Of course,
Jack's mind is thinking, 'That's not such a bad deal...' Small
price to pay to avenge his wife's death. But what about his daughter,
is he thinking about her? She's already lost one parent. If he kills me, she'll
have no one. Jack knows I'm right. He should just use me to stop the bomb,
then go home to Kim. She needs you Jack. 01:49:47.. 48.. 49.. 01:54:12... 13.. 14.. 15.. 16.. 17 [Cut to Reza
being interrogated by Tony.] REZA: I didn't
transfer that money. TONY: You transferred
it into that account. REZA: I didn't
transfer that money. TONY: You transferred
it into that account. REZA: I DIDN'T
TRANSFER THE MONEY! TONY: Then
you better tell me who did, or I'm taking you in! REZA: Why are
you doing this... TONY: Friends
of mine.. Who were doing their best to protect the citizens of this
country, were murdered today... Probably by the same people you're funding!
That a good enough reason for you? REZA: Told
you before... I don't know anything else. [Reza looks
out window at his parents. Tony looks.] TONY: Your
parents. Alright, stand up Reza. Place your hands behind your head. It's a
shame. It's gonna break their heart. I have to walk you right past them. And
they're gonna see who their son really is.. [Tony smirks
and secures handcuffs.] REZA: Wait!
I confirmed the transfers, but I didn't make them. I was just covering the
records. I didn't want to get him into trouble. TONY: Who?
Who are you covering for? Come on. Who transferred that money into Syed Ali's
accounts? REZA: Bob Warner.
Marie's father. [Cut to Kim,
Miguel and Megan outside the hospital. Megan groans.] KIM: What?
What's the matter? MEGAN: I don't
feel very well. KIM: Come on!
Come on Miguel. [ KIM: Get away
from us! KIM: I don't
care, I know how she got the concussion! KIM: Oh like
Carla's bruises?! [ MIGUEL: It's
okay... KIM: Miguel!
[Kim and Miguel
hugs. Megan’s looks at her father.] MIGUEL: Let's
get out of here. KIM: Get his
car keys. [Cut to Warner
House. Rima, Hassan and Reza talking in Arabic, hugging each other.]
MARIE: Reza!
REZA: Sweetheart,
angel.. You okay? MARIE: Yeah.. REZA: They
know I didn't do anything. MARIE: Oh,
thank god! We can get married today. REZA: I don't
know sweetheart. TONY: Mr. Warner?
Could you follow me sir? BOB: What does
this have to do with me? TONY: Just
come with me please. KATE: What
did you tell them? REZA: The truth.
KATE: The truth?
Wha-What do you mean, the truth? REZA: Please,
my parents are very upset. [Cut to Kim,
Megan and Miguel getting into [Split screen
to Kate looking in disbelief at Reza. Reza, Marie, Reza's parents exits.] [ [Shot of President
Palmer thinking.] ED: Yeah. Yeah.
Okay. The team's assembled in JACK: We have
confirmation that they're in place? [Ed finishes
water.] ED: Probably
in the air. We'll have air traffic. Huhmm... JACK: Air traffic
priority? ED: Yeah..
Tra-tra... Jack.. [Ed collapses.]
JACK: It's
alright Ed. It's alright. Just take it easy. [Jack smirks.
