Recap: Previously on
24.
PRESIDENT DAVID
PALMER: We’ve established a direct link from
MIKE NOVICK:
MAN: Mr. Stanton,
by orders of the President, I’m placing you under arrest.
PALMER: What
I’m about to ask you to do falls outside of the parameters of your charges
of secret service.
-------------------------------
TED SIMMONS:
What would like me to do sir?
[Ted Simmons
uses electrical shocker device to torture Roger Stanton for information.]
--------------------------------
JACK BAUER:
Where is she now?
GEORGE MASON:
She ran off after the accident. Maybe she was trying to avoid the local police
or whether she trying not to get brought back to LA.
JACK: Just
find her, George.
------------------------------
[Kim Bauer
accidentally run into and gets caught in a game-trap.]
KIM BAUER:
Ow!
--------------------------------
SYED ALI: Marie,
we have a problem.
MARIE WARNER:
What is it?
ALI: Basheer
and Marko are dead.
MARIE: What
do you need me to do?
ALI: They were
supposed pick up the trigger.
MARIE: Where
is it?
ALI: At the
place where Marko worked, in his locker. You must do whatever you can to gain
access to this locker and bring the trigger to Omar as soon as possible.
MARIE: I’ll
take care of it.
---------------------------------
KATE WARNER:
I think I’ve earned the right to know what’s going on.
JACK: We believe
that Syed Ali is at the center of a terrorist attack. We need you to identify
him for us.
[Kate Warner
goes through the mosque and spots Syed Ali.]
KATE: He’s
in there. Syed Ali. He’s in there.
[Jack and Tom
Baker finds a burning body in a room at the mosque.]
JACK: Dammit!
TOM BAKER:
He’s dead Jack.
JACK: These
clothes don’t belong to this man. Maintain secure exits. Maintain secure exits.
Ali is still in the building.
---
The following
takes place between 7PM and 8PM.
---
TOM BAKER:
You’re gonna have to step outside until we get the situation resolved.
KATE WARNER:
Agent Bauer told me to stay. Talk to him.
BAKER: I will-
as soon as you step outside.
[Jack Bauer
enters.]
JACK BAUER:
She stays with us. She’s gotta make the final identification on Ali as soon
as we find him.
[Jack and Baker
steps to the side, Baker holds out a zip-log bag with a piece of paper in
it.]
BAKER: We found
this in the pocket of the man Ali set on fire. It might be part of a document
Ali was carrying.
JACK: Photo
it, send it to CTU, see what they can find.
JACK: Are you
trying to protect this man?
IMAM: No, Agent
Bauer, I have no misplaced loyalties. If the man that you're looking for,
has murdered an innocent, he is as guilty in the eyes of Islam as he is in
yours.
JACK: The man
that I’m looking for, set in motion a plan today to detonate a nuclear weapon
in
IMAM: Are you
certain?
JACK: Yes I’m
certain. Our estimate is between 1 and 2 million people will die if this bomb
goes off. That, sir, is why we need to find him now.
IMAM: Thank
you for informing me, but I can be no more honest with you than I have been.
But if you find this man, perhaps I can talk to him in a way you cannot. Persuade
him.
AGENT: Agent
Bauer?
JACK: Thank
you.
[Jack steps
away from the imam and follows the agent.]
AGENT: We found
something I think you should see. We found this trap door, it’s not on any
of the schematics you gave us.
JACK: Open
it. I go down… I’m going down alone.
[The Agent
opens the trapdoor, Jack leans down and shines his flashlight into the tunnel.]
AGENT: I know
this is your operation-
JACK: Listen
to me. We just lost one of Ali’s men to a cyanide capsule hidden in his tooth.
We have to assume that Ali’s willing to take his life the same way. He can’t
see us coming. Have your men assemble at the base of the ladder. Await my
instructions. Have you got your baton with you? Let me have it. Okay.
[Jack takes
the agent’s baton and goes down the ladder. He walks through the tunnel cautiously,
a clatter sounded from farther in the maze of tunnels.]
---
[Marie Warner
is driving in her car, suddenly, her phone rings. She answers it.]
SYED ALI: Marie.
MARIE WARNER:
Hello?
ALI: There
has been a change of plans.
MARIE: Why?
What’s going on?
ALI: Just go
to the rendezvous point. If I’m not there within 1 half-hour of the time we
have planned, then you know what to do. You remember what I said yes?
MARIE: I remember.
[Ali hangs
up. Suddenly, Ali hears a clatter. He walks over to the tunnel; Jack Bauer
jumps out and takes him down with the baton.]
JACK: I’ve
got the suspect. Engage the room! Engage the room!
[Jack holds
a struggling Ali by the mouth and desperately tries to keep him from biting
into the cyanide capsule. Baker and the SWAT team rushes in to help. Kate
Warner follows.]
JACK: Grab
his legs!
KATE: That’s
him! That is Syed Ali!
JACK: Get her
outta here! Get her outta here! Get her outta here.
[Two agents
forces Kate Warner to get out of the room. Jack Bauer’s hands are bloody from
Syed Ali’s biting. Jack finally punches Ali several times in the jaw to stop
the biting and takes the cyanide capsule.]
JACK: I got
the cyanide. Get him ready. Baker!
BAKER: Find
out who he was talking to.
[Jack hands
Baker Ali’s phone.]
---
BOB WARNER:
It’s hard not to sit here and think that there must be some mistake, even
with the evidence you have.
GEORGE MASON:
It’s black and white, Bob. Your daughter killed Reza and 2 of our agents.
And I need you to help us understand what her connection to Syed Ali is.
BOB: If I’d
known she was involved, I would have done something.
MASON: And
now that you do know, does it help explain any strange behavior? Anything
you could tell us will help.
BOB: Well…
Marie went to college in
MASON: And?
BOB: She ran
away for a while.
MASON: How
long?
BOB: 3… maybe 4 weeks. We got the police involved but… she sent us a letter
saying that she was fine. That she was traveling and she just needed some
space. And when she came back… I was so grateful to see her that I stopped
asking questions.
MASON: No sense
that anything have changed? Any fundamentally difference?
BOB: She had
become… less politically inclined. Marie had always flirted with causes, respectable
causes. Like save the wilderness, or abolish the death penalty. She stopped
talking about all that.
MASON: That’s
precisely what happens when you’re radicalized. Handlers train you to stop
talking about anything, keep it to yourself, so you’re better able to blend
into the background.
BOB: Marie
had handlers?
[The door opens.
Michelle Dessler beckons to George Mason.]
MASON: Hey,
can it wait? I’ll be right back with this…
[George Mason
follows Michelle Dessler out.]
MICHELLE DESSLER:
This scan just came in from the mosque. A burn paper fragment found in Ali’s
clothing. The only thing visible to the naked eye is visible in the lower
left quadrant. It looks like a piece of a number… Maybe a 6 or an 8.
MASON: Are
all of our forensics people out in the field?
MICHELLE: We
just got Murdoch on loan from
MASON: How
are you doing? George Mason.
MURDOCH: Hey
man. Randy Murdoch.
MASON: Please
to meet you.
MURDOCH: Good
to meet you.
[They shake
hands. Murdoch goes over to the computer, and sits down.]
MASON: Any
way to accelerate the process?
MURDOCH: My
CPU’s faster than anything you guys got. Parallel processing could take way
too long to set up. But, check it out- if there’s anything there, I’ll get
it.
MASON: Great.
Where’s Tony and the satellite feed Jack wants?
MICHELLE: In
progress.
MASON: Thank
you. Keep it up.
MURDOCH: Alright.
[Michelle and
Mason exits.]
---
[Ted Simmons
re-enters the interrogation room and walks towards
TED SIMMONS:
Who else knew about the bomb, Mr. Stanton?
ROGER STANTON:
I don’t know what you’re talking about.
[Mike Novick
enters President David Palmer’s office while Palmer watches Roger Stanton’s
interrogation from his computer.]
MIKE NOVICK:
Jack Bauer is interrogating Ali as we speak. We’ll be informed of his progress
on a minute-by-minute basis, but nothing yet.
DAVID PALMER:
And we’re certain that this man knows the location of the bomb at this point?
MIKE: Jack
Bauer is.
PALMER: Make
sure he has all the resources he needs.
MIKE: Yes sir.
TED(COMPUTER):
The pain’s only going to get much, much worse.
[Ted Simmons
uses the machine to zap Roger Stanton again. Roger Stanton struggles in his
chair.]
TED(COMPUTER):
You can stop it.
PALMER: Agent
Simmons tells me that Roger received the same training of resisting interrogation
as he did.
TED(COMPUTER):
I’m increasing the voltage.
PALMER: But
everyone breaks eventually.

MAN(PHONE):
You have an entry point?
TONY ALMEIDA(PHONE):
As far as we know, she entered the forest somewhere between 8-3 and 8-4 on
the topo map.
MAN(PHONE):
And heading?
TONY(PHONE):
No. No idea which way she headed.
[George Mason
and Michelle Dessler walks up behind him.]
TONY(PHONE):
But keep me posted alright?
[He hangs up.]
MASON: What
are you doing?
TONY: Getting
more men out there looking for Jack’s daughter.
MASON: After
I specifically told you to divert all resources to the bomb.
TONY: The satellite
feed is happening alright? I wasn’t using our resources. I was telling the
sheriff to look for her.
MASON: Tony,
you’re a resource! I don’t want you to split your attention.
TONY: I promised
Jack I’d do everything in my power to look for Kim. Just like you did.
MASON: Kim
is outside of the blast radius! The rest of Los Angeles isn’t! Stay focused
on the bomb Tony! That goes for everybody!
[Mason stomps
away. He goes up to his office, slowing down and gripping the staircase railing
to help himself up as another radiation nausea attack comes. Tony picks up
his phone.]
MAN(PHONE):
LA county Ranger Station.
TONY(PHONE):
This is Tony Almeida at CTU.
MAN(PHONE):
Yes sir?
TONY(PHONE):
Well I’m trying to track somebody who went into the Angela Crest forest about
an hour ago.
MAN(PHONE):
Hold while I transfer you.
---
[Kim tries
to free herself from the trap. She blows warm air into her hands. Suddenly,
she heads leaves rustling from behind her. She uses a nearby stick to stand
up. After looking awhile to see somebody, she hides behind a large rock. A
man approaches her. Kim comes out from her hiding spot.]
MAN: Hey, somebody
there? Hello?
KIM: Who are
you, what are you doing out here?
MAN: Me? What
are you doing out here?
KIM: I got
into a car accident. I started running, and before I knew it, I was out here.
I had no idea where I was. I got stuck in this stupid thing. Look, all I wanna
do is get back to the highway and get outta here.
MAN: Why were
you running from the highway in the first place?
KIM: I told
you, I was scared and panicked. Dammit!
[The man puts
down his lantern and rifle. He helps Kim out of the trap.]
KIM: Oh, God.
Thank you.
---
MAN: Coming
through here.
BAKER(RADIO):
We’re moving into position now. Baker out.
[Men lay wires
and pushes trolleys of electronic equipment down to the basement of the mosque.]
JACK: I know
who you are. I know everything you’ve done. Where is the bomb?
[Syed Ali groans.
Jack punches Ali in the stomach and the head. Ali spits blood on the floor.]
JACK: Where
is the bomb? You are wasting my time. When is the bomb going to detonate?
ALI: You are
the one wasting time. I woke up today knowing I would die.
JACK: I can
make you die with more pain than you ever imagined.
[Jack tightens
the wire on Syed Ali’s hands. Ali screams in pain. Kate Warner watches from
outside the door. She shakes her head in horror; Tom Baker shields Kate Warner
from the scene and escorts her away.]
ALI: Then I
will have that much more pleasure in paradise.
JACK: Right.
---
MAN: Now we
gotta figure out how we can get you to the nearest ranger station.
KIM: No, that’s
okay. I don’t wanna go back there.
MAN: The same
reason you ran from the highway?
[The man finishes
bandaging Kim’s foot and helps her with her shoe.]
KIM: Here,
I got it. Thank you.
MAN: The highway’s
couple miles that way. But the way there is not safe. The terrain’s too rough
to follow at night, and there’s cougars up in that area. My place is a half-mile
that way. I could put a roof over your head for the night.
[Kim looks
at the man suspiciously.]
---
[Jack wipes
his hands clean with a towel. He exits the room, letting the imam go into
the room.]
IMAM: I am
the imam of the mosque. Do you deny these men’s accusations that you are planning
to explode a bomb that will kill millions of people? The Koran clearly forbids
the killing of innocents and noncombatants. You know this as well as I do.
ALI: We have
different interpretations of the Koran.
IMAM: You are
misguided. Someone has twisted the words of the prophet. Allah does not love
aggressors. Listen to me- the murder of one innocent, let alone millions,
will not get you into paradise.
ALI: We will
continue this debate when I see you there, Imam Al Fulani.
[The imam stares
at him in horror and exits. Jack Bauer is working at a station with a computer.]
JACK: I want
the images from this computer transferred to these monitors. Come with me.
IMAM: I have
talked to men like this before who had misused our religion to channel their
hate, but I have not known anyone personally who would actually act on their
impulses.
JACK: Is there
any kind of appeal that you can make to him that’ll make any difference?
IMAM: I will
try again, but I don’t think so.
JACK: We don’t
have that kind of time.
IMAM: Please,
I want to try again.
JACK: Sir,
you can’t be involved with what’s gonna happen next. Please escort the gentleman
upstairs.
BAKER: Agent
Bauer?
JACK: Yeah.
BAKER: We recovered
the last number Ali dialed on his cell. It’s a 310 area code. 555-2130. we’re
doing a work-up on it now.
JACK: Okay,
good.
KATE: Wait.
What was that number?
[Baker looks
at Jack. Jack nods.]
BAKER: 555-2130.
KATE: Oh that’s
not possible. That’s my sister’s cell phone number.
[Baker and
Jack look at each other knowingly.]
KATE: What’s
going on? What are you not telling me?
JACK: Why don’t
you give us a minute?
[Baker exits.]
KATE: What’s
Marie got to do with this?
JACK: Your
sister’s fiancée Reza and two of our agents were found shot to death in your
father’s building about an hour and a half ago.
KATE: What?
JACK: Your
sister Marie was with them.
KATE: Marie?
Is she okay?
JACK: They
don’t know where she is right now.
KATE: When
were you going to tell me this?!
[Kate looks
at Jack disgustedly, Jack’s face’s passive.]
JACK: When
we had confirmation that she was the person that pulled the trigger.
KATE: What?
That is ridiculous. How could you even think that?!
JACK: Because
we have video tape on her. She was the only person seen leaving your father’s
building in the last hour and a half.
[Jack starts
walking away.]
KATE: What…?
Well, she was probably trying to escape! She could have been hurt! You know
that he called her number, you don’t know if she picked up! The phone could
have been stolen!
[Jack walks
back to the Kate-in-denial.]
JACK: You really
believe that?! You really believe your sister has nothing to do with this?
KATE: Yes,
I really believe it.
JACK: There’s
one way you could prove that to me. Phone her cell phone. But if she picks
up, you have to talk to her and keep her on the phone as long as possible
so we can find her. That’s the deal. Can you do that?!
KATE: Okay.
JACK: Okay.
Okay. I gonna be right back. Baker? We need to trace a cell phone call. But
I need you to manipulate the caller ID. We need to make it look like it’s
coming from Kate Warner’s phone. Get on it now.
[Baker leaves.
Jack stares at Kate from behind.]
---
07:24:14..
15.. 16.. **Fade out.*
07:28:27..
28.. 29.. 30.. 31
---
JACK: We’ll
set up just in here. Our equipment will make it look like you’re calling from
your cell phone. Just tell her you’re worried ‘cause you haven’t heard from
her in the last few hours but don’t be panicked.
MAN: We’re
linked into the cell-provider network. We can triangulate within 15 to 30
seconds. Once we lock, we can track the phone even after the call ends.
JACK: Okay,
good. Let’s make the call.
[Jack hands
Kate the phone.]
KATE: What
if it’s not her? She doesn’t answer. What if it’s someone else?
JACK: That’s
what we need to find out. Kate, finding your sister right now could save the
lives of millions of people. Please make the call.
[Kate dials
Marie’s number. Jack listens from headphones.]
---
[Marie Warner’s
still driving in her car, her cell phone rings. The caller-ID indicates it’s
‘Kate’s cell.’]
MARIE: Hello?
KATE: Hi. It’s
me. I haven’t been able to reach dad. He’s not back yet. What’s going on?
MARIE: Just
taking a drive… to clear my head.
KATE: I understand.
I’m so sorry, Marie. About everything.
MARIE: Yes.
KATE: Do you
want to meet back at the house? Grab a bite? Can you?
MARIE: They
found Reza, haven’t they? They know what’s happened.
KATE: I don’t
know. I don’t know what happened. Oh, Marie. Tell me, please, what happened?
MARIE: You
wouldn’t understand Kate.
KATE: You killed
Reza? And those agents?
MARIE: People
have to die for things to change.
MAN:
We’re locked.
KATE: You couldn’t
have done this. You're not this person. They forced you! You didn’t know what
you were doing!
[Marie hangs
up and throws the cell out of the window. A car runs over the cell phone.]
MAN: We tracked
it to a 10-block section of Sylmar. We lost the phone after that.
JACK: Okay,
tell CHP to shut down that 10-block radius. Send over the vitals on Marie
Warner. Tell them to find her.
MAN: Got it.
KATE: You don’t
know who she was with! They could have been forcing her! You don’t know!
JACK: I’m sorry.
I’m sorry.
[Jack turns
and walks away.]
---
TONY: Any word
back from the ranger station yet?
MICHELLE: No.
Nothing yet. They mounted a search. But they can’t cover as much ground at
night.
MURDOCK: Tony.
I just sent this to Jack over at the mosque. Check it out. This paper has
a very irregular pulp pattern. So the final step in the process is to take
samples from various points, so we can create a CGI algorithm of what the
paper looks like without any of the writings or other impressions on it. Right?
We then subtract that from what we’ve actually got, and what we get… Is a
representation of anything that interrupts that pattern. Aha. There it is.
Okay. This is only a partial. There are a few more markings. Letters or numbers
to the right of these. But I’m gonna need a bit more time. They’re more obscure.
TONY: Do we
have any contacts whatsoever as to what these numbers or letters refer to?
MURDOCK: No.
They photographed the paper on both sides. That’s the only area, right here…
with any information on it.
TONY: Alright.
Good job. Listen Michelle, I want you to get anyone we can spare on that sequence
of letters and numbers. Alright? I want you to check VIN numbers, license
plates, shipping manifests. Also get crypto to see if that’s a code alright?
MICHELLE: I’m
on it.
---
BAKER: Agent
Bauer?
JACK: Yeah?
BAKER: This
just came in from CTU.
[Baker hands
Jack a transparent film with the paper Murdock recovered, the letters and
numbers N34 barely visible on the side.]
JACK: Open
the door. Open the door!
[The agent
opens the door. Jack rushes in.]
JACK: N34,
what does that mean? What does that mean?! You screwed up Ali. We’re gonna
cross-reference that number to everything in our database. Marie Warner is
being picked up as we speak. That’s right, all the pieces are starting to
come together. No matter what, we’re gonna find this bomb. So you can either
tell me now, or I can make you suffer. You wanna suffer?
ALI: I already
told you… I’m not afraid to die.
JACK: The only
way you’re gonna die today is if I kill you. Your bomb’s not going off.
[Baker enters.]
BAKER: We’re
all set. We have a live feed.
JACK: Patch
it through.
BAKER(RADIO):
Go!
[The portable
TV in the room lights up. A woman and a boy is strapped to a chair by black-clothed
men. Another boy is yelling and struggling as he is tied to the chair. Ali
looks up.]
JACK: Those
men will kill your family if you don’t tell me where the bomb is now.
[The camera
zooms in on the terrified mother, and the tears glistening on the smaller
boy’s face. Ali watches with a horrified expression on his face.]
JACK: I despise
you for making me do this. They’re waiting for my order. This is your last
chance. Where is the bomb?
[Ali struggles
against his chair.]

MIKE: Sir!
Are you aware that Jack Bauer’s threatening the lives of Syed Ali’s family?
PALMER: No.
Where is the family?
MIKE: In their
own country. CTU’s been in contact with the security forces there who have
Ali’s family in custody. We just got word that Jack has requested they kill
the family one by one till Ali tells us the location of the bomb.
[Mike and Palmer
enters Palmer’s office.]
PALMER: Would
the security forces do this in your estimation?
MIKE: They
do act against civilians. And their government is afraid of what we'll do
in retaliation if a bomb goes off. Yes, I think they would.
PALMER: Can
we let this happen? Condone the murder of innocent people?
MIKE: The argument
would be, the bomb is an act of war and wars result in civilian casualties.
PALMER: Oh
I don’t want a rationale here, Mike! I don’t know of a war where a president
knowingly targeted children for assassination.
MIKE: Compare
this to a weapons factory we discovered recently near a hospital- a situation
we have faced. A bombing would still be ordered on the logic that many more
people will be saved by the destruction of the factory. The numbers are even
more compelling here. A few may have to die to save millions.
PALMER: How
could it have come to this…
---
JACK: Your
wife’s been writing you letters everyday. She doesn’t know where to send them.
Your son Asad wants to grow up and be just like you. Turns 12 next week. I
don’t think he’s gonna make it. I know what it’s like to loose someone. To
watch them get killed right in front of you. I don’t wanna hurt your
family. But I will order those men to pull that trigger if you don’t give
me the information I need.
ALI: I am…
I am doing Allah’s work.
JACK: No. You’re
going to kill millions of people. That’s what you’re doing.
[The door opens.
An agent comes in with a phone.]
AGENT: Agent
Bauer- it’s important. It’s the President.
JACK: Mr. President-
this is Jack Bauer.
PALMER: Can’t
let you do this Jack.
JACK: Sir,
Ali was willing to take his own life to complete his mission. His only vulnerability
sir is his family.
PALMER: It
is not the policy of this country to kill innocent children.
JACK: Sir,
the action will take place in his country. You would not have to be involved.
This would be a field decision.
PALMER: My
decision is final. I’m sorry, Jack.
JACK: Yes,
sir.
[President
Palmer hangs up. Jack Bauer pretends he’s still on the line. Ali watches Jack.]
JACK: I understand,
Mr. President. No, I do not think that there is another alternative. I know
it’s a difficult decision sir. Yes sir. Thank you for your support Mr. President.
[Jack Bauer
closes his cell.]
JACK: He authorized
the action.
[Jack hands
the agent the phone, and the agent exits. Jack smirks at Ali, who now returned
to watching the screen fearfully.]
---
MIKE(PHONE):
No! Roger Stanton isn’t available!
MAN(R)(PHONE):
When can I talk to him?
MIKE(PHONE):
I don’t know!
MAN(R)(PHONE):
Mike-
MIKE(PHONE):
Look, that’s all I can say right now, Rich. If you have a tactical question,
talk to Scott Grant. He’s got the NSA play book today.
RICH(PHONE):
I can use your name?
MIKE(PHONE):
Sure.
[Mike hangs
up. Lynne Kresege enters.]
LYNNE KRESEGE:
Mike, can I have a quick word with you, please?
MIKE: Yeah,
sure Lynne.
KRESEGE: I
don’t trust Sheri Palmer. And I don’t think she should be here.
MIKE: I’m up
to my eyeballs trying to hide this interrogation with Stanton from Washington.
If you have a problem with Sheri, deal with it yourself.
KRESEGE: Mike,
I think you know me well enough to know that this isn’t a battle over turf.
This is about Roger Stanton.
MIKE: What?
KRESEGE: I
was waiting for the appropriate time to tell you. I wanted to be sure. Someone
has approached me with evidence of a flow of communications between Roger
Stanton and Sheri Palmer- and it has been over the last 6 months.
MIKE: Roger
said he met her today for the first time.
KRESEGE: Yes.
I know.
[Mike sighs.]
MIKE: My… God.
KRESEGE: You’ve
known Sheri for a very long time. Is today indicative of how she operates?
Then this shouldn’t be too much of a shock to you.
MIKE: Sheri
Palmer’s a lot of things, but a traitor to this country? I don’t believe that…
What kind of communication? Phone calls?
KRESEGE: Yes.
Phone calls, emails… Mike… Face to face.
MIKE: Who’s
your source on this?
KRESEGE: Up
until now, I’ve been getting this through an intermediary, but I actually
have a meeting with the source in about 10 minutes. Where?
MIKE: Off-site.
KRESEGE: Are
you telling the president?
MIKE: No. He’s
got enough on his plate already. And he’d want proof anyway. You can go ahead
with your meeting. Let me know what happens. Be careful.
KRESEGE: I
will. Thank you.
---
MAN(RADIO):
Shall we proceed as planned?
JACK(RADIO):
Yes, affirmative. Start with the older son, Asad. If that’s not successful,
move on to his younger son.
MAN(RADIO):
Copy that. We are waiting for your orders.
JACK(RADIO):
We are a go.
[Jack goes
back to the room from the corridor. Kate looks at Jack curiously.]
JACK: I can’t
wait any longer. Tell me where the bomb is or I will kill Asad. Ali- I know
you think what you’re doing is right, but it’s my job to not let that happen.
Please don’t make me do this. Asad is just a boy. Tell me where the bomb is!Tell
me where the bomb is! Fine!
JACK(RADIO):
Kill him!
[The men in
black kicks Asad’s chair to the ground and partially out of site. He shoots
twice at the fallen figure.]
ALI: No! No!
[Kate hears
screams from outside. Ali screams and struggles against his chair. Tears are
streaming down his wife’s cheeks, and Asad’s younger brother’s eyes widen
with fear as the men now approached him after killing his brother.]
JACK: Tell
me where the bomb is! Tell me where the bomb is and I’ll spare the rest of
your family!
ALI: I will
not tell you!

[Lynne Kresege
exits her car and goes through a deserted building. She checks her watch repeatedly
and looks around. She walks past the corner, Sheri emerges from behind.]
SHERI PALMER:
Your meeting’s changed. Now it’s with me.
[Kresege gasps.]
SHERI: No,
don’t go anywhere Lynne. We need to talk.
KRESEGE: I
don’t think so.
SHERI: Oh I
think we do. You think you’ve connected me to Roger. That’s exactly what they
want you to think.
KRESEGE: Who
is they?
SHERI: The
people Roger’s conspiring with.
KRESEGE: So
you’re confirming that Roger Stanton is involved? He knew about this bomb
ahead of time?
SHERI: Oh…
Roger’s more involved than David could possibly know.
KRESEGE: What
the hell does that mean? This conspiracy, what is its goal then?
SHERI: To take
over the presidency. These people, these people are feeding misinformation
about me because they’re afraid I’ll get in the way.
KRESEGE: If
you’re not involved then, how would you know about this meeting?
SHERI: I don’t
have to involved to know the moves they’re making Lynne.
KRESEGE: If
you knew what Roger was doing, why the hell haven’t you said anything to the
President?
SHERI: Probably
for the same reasons you’re keeping this line of inquiry to yourself. I want
to have as much concrete evidence as possible.
KRESEGE: Sheri,
you could have said any of this to e back at the retreat, why come here?
SHERI: To make
a point, that’s all.
KRESEGE: To
make a point? I think this a warning. I think you orchestrated all of this
to show me how powerful you are. And I think you have your own, and not the
President’s best interest at heart. And I will do everything in my power to
make sure you don’t hurt him and that you don’t undermine this administration.
[Kresege leaves.]

JACK: Asad
is dead. There’s nothing I can do to change that. You can still save Fareed’s
life.
[Ali shouts
in Arabic.]
JACK: I’m gonna
give you 10 seconds. Where is the bomb?
[Ali shouts
in Arabic again.]
JACK: You’re
running out of time. I will tell these men to kill your last son! Where is
the bomb? That’s it!
JACK(RADIO):
Take him out!
ALI: I will
tell you!
JACK(RADIO):
Hold it!
ALI: I will
tell you.
JACK: Tell
me now.
ALI: It is
at Norton Airfield.
JACK: Why?
What’s the plan?
ALI: We were
going to fly over downtown and detonate it. It is true! It is… it is true...
[Jack calls
CTU.]
MICHELLE(PHONE):
Dessler.
JACK(PHONE):
It’s Jack, get me Mason.
MICHELLE: It's
Jack!
MASON(PHONE):
What do you have?
JACK(PHONE):
The bomb’s at Norton Airfield. They’re putting it on a plan to fly it over
the city.
MICHELLE(PHONE):
Okay, Norton’s a medium-sized airfield. They do cargo, private aviation. Every
plane’s tail number begins with the letter “N”. That’s probably what this
refers to. It’s still only partial, but it narrows down the search.
MASON(PHONE):
We’re on our way.
MASON: We’re
moving units Bravo, Echo and Lima to Norton Airfield, where we have reason
to believe the bomb is located. Call FAA and have them ground all the flights
in or out of Norton. Even if they do get the plane in the air, we wanna have
two F-16s at the ready to intercept. We’ll get the bomb units and SWAT teams
over there as well, so just move! And remember, the “no unnecessary contact”
rule remains in place.

[Men are wheeling
the TV sets out back to the hall. Jack exits the room, Kate Warner walks by.]
JACK: Put Ms.
Warner against the wall.
[Two other
guards held Ali by the arms and shoulder and leads him out of the room.]
ALI: You killed
my boy! You killed my boy! You killed my boy! I will get you for this! You
will die for this!
[Ali exits.
Kate looks at Jack.]
KATE: How could
you? You’re worse than they are.
[Jack looks
at Kate dismissively and stations himself at the computer.]
JACK(RADIO):
Reroute the satellite back to normal feed.
MAN(RADIO):
Now sir?
JACK(RADIO):
I want confirmation.
MAN(RADIO):
Rerouted satellite. You should have live picture now.
JACK(RADIO):
Thank you.
[Jack walks
away from the computer and hands the radio to an agent. He instructs the agent
on the Norton Airfield situation. Kate Warner heads over to the computer curiously.]
JACK: We’re
gonna come in from the north. Okay… set up our men coming in from the south
from these two gates.
[Turns out
that the men did not kill Asad after all, and that it’s just an editing trick.]
KATE: He’s
alive… It was all an act.
JACK: Kate,
I need you to come with me, to talk to your sister.
KATE: What?
Where?
JACK: Norton
Airfield, 30 miles north. It’s where the bomb is located.
KATE: Do you
really think she’s there?
JACK: Yes,
I do. Please Kate we don’t have much time.
KATE: Okay.
MAN: Come on.
DRIVER: Here
you go sir.
---
[Jack Bauer
and Kate Warner get into a vehicle.]
[Kim Bauer
follows the man through the woods.]
[Palmer looking
at the interrogation from his office.]
---
TED: Wake up.
Wake up Mr. Stanton. There we go. Who else knew about the bomb, Mr. Stanton?
---
[Marie Warner
walks into a Norton Airfield hanger. Omar is there, waiting with the bomb.]
OMAR(ARABIC):
Now connect the leads to the battery.
[Marie hands
Omar the trigger she took from Marko’s locker. Omar carefully assembles the
device.]
OMAR(ARABIC):
Testing…
[Omar presses
a button, and the device lights up. He turns it back off and speaks to another
man in Arabic, who opened the large cargo. Omar places the completed trigger
into the main device of the nuclear bomb. The bomb lights up. Glowing buttons
shine. Omar and Marie Warner looks at each other.]
OMAR(ARABIC):
Now we pray.
[Omar closes
the lid and they walk away.]
