JACK BAUER: {Voice over} Right now, terrorists are plotting to assassinate a presidential candidate. My wife and daughter have been targeted and the people I work with may be involved in both. I'm federal agent Jack Bauer and today is the longest day of my life.

JACK BAUER: {Voice over} The following takes place between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the day of the California presidential primary.

INT. ALEXIS DRAZEN'S HOTEL ROOM

{Jack runs in}

JACK BAUER: Listen up people. Listen up. Alexis Drazen was leaving here for a meeting. At this meeting he was going to make a payoff. That means somewhere in this room there is money. I want it found. I want it found now.

{Jack starts to walk out as the Senator blocks his way}

SENATOR PALMER: Elizabeth can not be held responsible for this.

JACK BAUER: Senator I don't disagree with you. But we have a video of her stabbing a man with a letter opener.

SENATOR PALMER: You got her into this.

JACK BAUER: No sir I did not. I did not ask her to stab Alexis Drazen. I misjudged her ability to handle this operation and as I said before I will do everything I can to help her.

SENATOR PALMER: I know you’re just trying to protect me.

JACK BAUER: Senator, I understand the situation your in but I do not need to remind you that there are at least 2 suspects still at large............Sir please I implore you. Have as much security around you as you can tolerate and let us do our job.

SENATOR PALMER: Keep me posted.

JACK BAUER: Yes sir. I promise I will.

{The Senator leaves as Jack walks into the other room.}

NINA MYERS: FOUND IT!

{Jack walks back into 1242}

JACK BAUER: What?

NINA MYERS: Bearer bonds.

JACK BAUER: As good as cash and easier to move. You got the address of the restaurant yet?

NINA MYERS: California Plaza. It's about twenty minuets from here.

JACK BAUER: Good.

NINA MYERS: How you gonna pull this off Jack, pretending to be Alexis?

JACK BAUER: I don't know yet..........Hey Jay. Give me your shirt.

NINA MYERS: I'm going with you. Coordinate your backup.

JACK BAUER: Fine.

******Fade Out******

INT. CTU MAIN FLOOR

GEORGE MASON: What's the update on Bauer's family?

TONY ALMEIDA: Still missing.

GEORGE MASON: Anything back from forensics yet?

TONY ALEIDA: Well based on preliminary reports it looks like the agents were killed protecting the women.

GEORGE MASON: All right. We have to find the wife and daughter. I alerted the task force at District. Why don't you call over there and see if they need anything from our end.

TONY ALMEIDA: All right.

GEORGE MASON: Tony, Still no word to Jack on any of this, understand?

TONY ALMEIDA: What do you want me to tell him if he calls and asks?

GEORGE MASON: Tell him your working on something else and put him through to me.

******Fade Out******

INT. RICK'S PLACE, DAN'S ROOM

{Kim and Rick look through letters and books trying to find some clues}

MELANIE: What are you guys looking for anyway?

KIM BAUER: Whoever Dan was working for might have information about my mom.

RICK: This guy who was in charge, Gaines. I never met him before but Dan knew him. Maybe his number is here.

MELANIE: What are you gonna do, call him and ask for your mom back?

KIM BAUER: Any information I find, I'm going straight to the police.

MELANIE: You hear that Rick? She's gonna call the police.

RICK: I thought you said you didn't trust the police.

KIM BAUER: Whatever I'll give it to my dad.

MELANIE: Dan will go ballistic when he finds out you been going through his stuff.

{Melanie walks out of the room and down the hallway.}

KIM BAUER: You didn't tell her Dan's dead?

RICK: Not yet. I didn't want to freak her out. Besides Dan's brother Frank is on his way here and I don't want him to know..........Don't say anything okay?

KIM BAUER: Okay......... {Sits on bed} This is such a waste of time we're never going to find anything. I don't know why I came.

******Fade Out******

PHIL PARSLOW: You’re married. You have a daughter named Kimberly.

TERI BAUER: I have a daughter?

PHIL PARSLOW: Yes. A teenage daughter.

5:05:58......5:05:59......5:06:01......

PHIL PARSLOW: You and Jack, You were separated about six months ago. That's when we met.

TERI BAUER: Who are you?

PHIL PARSLOW: A friend. A very good friend who wanted to be a lot more.

TERI BAUER: but?

PHIL PARSLOW: You were afraid to start a relationship, so we didn't. You decided to go back to your husband. Maybe it was because of Kimberly I don't know. You asked me not to call and I haven't.

TERI BAUER: I just don't remember any of this.

PHIL PARSLOW: We need to get you to a hospital, you have to be looked at.

TERI BAUER: Why do we have to go anywhere? You said you were a doctor.

PHIL PARSLOW: I'm a surgeon. You need to see a neurologist. You suffered some kind of trauma.

TERI BAUER: I don't want to go to a hospital.

PHIL PARSLOW: Why not?

TERI BAUER: I don't know I just don't want to go.

PHIL PARSLOW: What if I examined you here?

TERI BAUER: Fine.

******Fade Out******

INT. PALMER HOTEL ROOM

{Keith Palmer plays the tape of him and Carl for David, Sherry, and Mike Novick.}

MIKE NOVIC: I don't know what you think you got here David.

SENATOR PALMER: What we got is a tape of Carl Webb admitting that he set my son up for murder.

MIKE NOVIC: It may have been a while since I practiced law but I know that unless Keith was sanctioned by a court order and prepped by an authority, this is not evidence.

SENATOR PALMER: I've been in politics long enough to know that if the media gets a hold of this tape the truth will come out.

SHERRY PALMER: No, David. Today can't be about two things. It's either about winning the primary, securing the party nomination. Or it's about a political scandal, but it can't be about both.......................................Destroy the tape.

SENATOR PALMER: What?

SHERRY PALMER: If you don't, not only will you bring down yourself but you'll bring the party down with you.

SENATOR PALMER: And how do I do that?

SHERRY PALMER: Because you’re going to win today. You'll have enough delegates by 8:00. You are the Democratic Party’s candidate for President whether you like it or not and if you decide to self destruct it will take years for the party's platform to recover.

SENATOR PALMER: Why don't we let the electorate decide on that? And I don't think that telling the truth self destructive.

SHERRY PALMER: What do you think Mike?

MIKE NOVIC: I've seen much uglier stories kept under wraps. The only people who know about this tape are the people in this room and Keith. This would not be a difficult item to shelve. And besides this is currency. Once you get into the White house this could protect you.

SENATOR PALMER: How?

MIKE NOVIC: Well think about it. You'll have evidence against some of the most powerful people in the world. They won't be able to control you David.

***FADE OUT***

{Jack and Nina are on an escalator approaching the California Plaza hotel. Jack calls Tony Almeida}

JACK BAUER: Tony it’s Jack. How's everything going over there?

TONY ALMEIDA: Fine Jack.

JACK BAUER: I need to talk to George he's not in his office.

TONY ALMEIDA: He's down on the floor. Let me transfer you.

JACK BAUER: Okay but before you do that, have you talked to Teri yet?

TONY ALMEIDA: No I haven't.

JACK BAUER: Why don't you give me the number? I'll call over there myself.

TONY ALMEIDA: Okay let me see if I can get that for you. Hang on.

{Tony walks over to George}

TONY ALMEIDA: Jack's on the phone he wants to talk to you.

GEORGE MASON: Of course he does.

TONY ALMEIDA: Also he wants the number to the safe house.

GEORGE MASON: All right.

TONY ALMEIDA: Look, why don't you just tell him what happened?

GEORGE MASON: Why is this so difficult for you to understand? The man is neck deep in an investigation. He has a job to do so let's let him do it. We get him back to a controlled environment we'll tell him the truth. Meanwhile we have a job to do.

TONY ALMEIDA: I have to say I just think it's wrong.

GEORGE MASON: It's not about right and wrong. It's about the fact that we have a priority to protect Palmer.

TONY ALMEIDA: Fine. He's on line two.

{George switches the line and walks away from Tony}

GEORGE MASON: Jack it's me. What's going on?

JACK BAUER: We're on our way to a meet.

GEORGE MASON: A meet, what kind of a meet?

JACK BAUER: Alexis Drazen was supposed to make a payoff.

GEORGE MASON: A payoff to who?

JACK BAUER: I'm not sure yet.

GEORGE MASON: So what are you going to do?

JACK BAUER: Pretend to be Alexis.

GEORGE MASON: Come on Jack your never gonna pull that off.

JACK BAUER: Alexis was supposed to pay this guy $50,000 dollars in bearer bonds. George, you’re going to have to work with me on this. I need backup. Milo's got the address. We'll be there soon. George, we keep this guy in play then we have a chance to bring these guys down. Otherwise you can wait for Alexis to come to, if he comes to by then this whole thing could be over.

GEORGE MASON: All right I'll go along I'll send you a team.

JACK BAUER: Thank you. Could you pass the phone back to Tony who was going to give me the number to the safe house?

GEORGE MASON: Yeah I just spoke to Paulson over there, he said the girls are sleeping.

JACK BAUER: Okay get them to call me on my cell when they wake up.

GEORGE MASON: Sure.

JACK BAUER: Thank you.

{Jack hangs up his cell}

JACK BAUER: Mason's on board.

NINA MEYERS: That’s good.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

INT. C.T.U. MASON'S OFFICE

{George is on the phone}

GEORGE MASON: Hanlon? Come on guys try to find someone else. Yeah.

{Hangs up as Tony walks up to Mason's office}

GEORGE MASON: Yeah?

TONY ALMEIDA: I need some extra bodies to help track Teri and Kim Bauer.

GEORGE MASON: I don't know Tony. I don't see anyone doing crossword puzzles down there.

TONY ALMEIDA: Look, um my hands are a little tied without Nina here all right.

GEORGE MASON: Cause Nina's with Jack. Right?

TONY ALMEIDA: Yeah.

GEORGE MASON: She says it's over with between them, what do you think?

TONY ALMEIDA: What?

GEORGE MASON: No I'm just asking. You have to be wondering yourself right.

TONY ALMEIDA: {Raised voice} YOU KNOW WHAT WORKS FOR ME? YOU KEEPING OUT OF MY PERSONEL LIFE THAT WORKS FOR ME.

GEORGE MASON: {Raised voice} YOU KNOW WHAT? THERE'S ENTIRELY TOO MUCH PERSONEL BUSINESS GOING ON AROUND HERE. I want to get this place back on track.

EXT. PALMER HOTEL BALCONY

{Senator Palmer is sitting outside as Keith walks out}

KEITH PALMER: Patty said you wanted to see me dad?

SENATOR PALMER: Yeah. Sit down. Close the door.

KEITH PALMER: What's up?

SENATOR PALMER: Before I make my decision about giving this tape to the D.A. I wanted to talk to you.

KEITH PALMER: Okay.

SENATOR PALMER: I wanted you to understand what you’re up against.

KEITH PALMER: Dad, I'm ready.

SENATOR PALMER: No, no, no listen to me. We're going to the press about some bad men committing murder and trying to frame you. But these men are going to shift the attention to you and your involvement with Lyle Gibson's death. There going to make this about you. On TV. in the press. Everywhere you go. You’re going to be accused of a crime you did not commit. Can you live with that?

KEITH PALMER: Yes I can.

SENATOR PALMER: Don't just say it. Think about it.

KEITH PALMER: Dad, what do you think I've been living through? Not just today but for years. I made a mistake. I was wrong to go to Carl and mom. I should have come forward right then and there. But I was scared.

SENATOR PALMER: That's what you learn.

INT. ANDRE DRAZEN'S LIMO

{Andre calls Jovan}

ANDRE DRAZEN: Jovan?

JOVAN: Yes Andre.

ANDRE DRAZEN: I can't find Alexis. Have you heard from him?

JOVAN: No.

ANDRE DRAZEN: He's meeting Morgan in twenty minuets. I need to talk to him.

JOVAN: Look, I don't know Andre. I've got my own situation to deal with.

ANDRE DRAZEN: Still no sign of the women?

JOVAN: I'll find them and kill them. Don't worry.

ANDRE DRAZEN: Calm down Jovan just tell me how you plan to find them?

JOVAN: I'm going to the Bauer house. Eventually someone will show.

INT. RICK'S HOUSE

MELANIE: Look, Rick we have things to do she has to go.

RICK: What kind of things?

MELANIE: You'll find out when Frank gets here.

RICK: Look Kim's in trouble I got to help her.

MELANIE: Yeah and we'll both be in trouble. Look she has to leave.

KIM BAUER: Okay that's fine.

RICK: Kim, wait. Look, why don't you just go to your house?

KIM BAUER: No. The people that are after us know where we live. If she's safe she won't be there. Are you sure you can't come with me?

RICK: after last night, I got to stay low. The police will be looking for me.

KIM BAUER: I wish we could have met before this.

RICK: Me to.

KIM BAUER: Are you going to be okay?

RICK: Yeah I'll be fine.

KIM BAUER: I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for you.

RICK: You wouldn't be in trouble if it wasn't for me.

{RICK AND KIM KISS AS FRANK WALKS THROUGH THE DOOR}

FRANK: Hey Rick.

RICK: Hey.

FRANK: So how'd it go last night?

RICK: It went fine.

FRANK: Don't look fine. What happened to you?

Rick: Nothing. I'm O.K.

FRANK: DAN!!!!!! DAN!!!!!!! Where's my brother?

RICK: He's out?

FRANK: Out where?

RICK: We got separated.

FRANK: Uh huh. So where's the money?

RICK: Dan's got it.

KIM BAUER: I'm sorry I should get going.

FRANK: Who are you?

KIM BAUER: I'm Kim.

FRANK: Hi Kim how do you know Rick?

RICK: She's a friend from San Diego. She's got to get back home.

FRANK: She's not going anywhere.

RICK: What do you mean?

FRANK: My brother's not here and the money's not here and I don't know her.

RICK: Look I told you she's a friend of mine.

FRANK: Yeah and I understand but I got business going down here in a half an hour. Until Dan gets back with the money nobody leaves.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

{Jack and Nina are setting things up}

NINA MEYERS: Okay teams will be hidden in positions here, here, and here.

JACK BAUER: What about communications?

NINA MEYERS: I'll be on the same channel as everyone else.

JACK BAUER: Exits?

NINA MEYERS: They will be covered by the teams.

JACK BAUER: Okay good.

{Jack's cell rings}

JACK BAUER: Bauer.

GEORGE MASON: Jack you all set up?

JACK BAUER: Yeah. The teams in place?

GEORGE MASON: Yeah that's what I wanted to talk to you about. Uh............Teddy Hanlon is going to be running backup.

JACK BAUER: WHAT?

GEORGE MASON: Hang on don't freak out. Just avoid a confrontation.

JACK BAUER: Dammit George how could you let this happen?

GEORGE MASON: Look I'm sorry. I just found out myself. Division made the assignment.

JACK BAUER: I understand, I'll deal with it. {HANGS UP} I don't believe this.

NINA MEYERS: What?

JACK BAUER: Teddy Hanlon's in charge of backup.

NINA MEYERS: Seth Campbell's old partner?

JACK BAUER: Yeah.

TEDDY HANLIN: Hey Jack. Haven't seen you since you put my partner away.

NINA MEYERS: Teddy, don't start.

JACK BAUER: Teddy is your team in place?

TEDDY HANLIN: Yeah, we're all set up. I heard you really screwed today.

JACK BAUER: The guy we are looking for is wearing a red cap. That's all we know about him. I'm going to stay visible and draw him out to me. No one makes a move until I give the order is that clear?

TEDDY HANLIN: It's your show. Just stay put when you do. I always get a little bit nervous with target confusion.

JACK BAUER: I don't want any mistakes on this.

INT. C.T.U MASON'S OFFICE

TONY ALMEIDA: Hey. Got a call from Rampart over at Division. They've got a report that a women matching Teri Bauer's description was wandering around in Griffith Park. That's close to the safe house.

GEORGE MASON: Where is she?

TONY ALMEIDA: She disappeared.

GEORGE MASON: I'll get up on the satellite uplink why don't you get someone posted over at the Bauer house.

TONY ALMEIDA: Williams should be there in a couple minuets.

GEORGE MASON: Good work.

{DR. Parslow examines Teri Bauer}

PHIL PARSLOW: I don't like what I'm seeing. Looks like you've been roughed up by someone.

TERI BAUER: Something's been bothering me right here. {Points to stomach} Oh my God what do you think happened to me?

PHIL PARSLOW: I don't know. I think you have a condition called disassociative amnesia. It can happen to someone when they experience intense emotional drama. We need to get you to a hospital.

TERI BAUER: No no. I don't want to go there.

PHIL PARSLOW: It's okay. I'd be there with you. You would be safe.

TERI BAUER: No I don't want to go. Please just take me home.

EXT. CALIFORNIA PLAZA

JACK BAUER: Nina I'm on channel one do you copy?

NINA MEYERS: Yeah Jack.

JACK BAUER: Teddy what about you?

TEDDY HANLIN: My teams in position. Your blocking my view Jack, take a few steps back.

JACK BAUER: How's that?

TEDDY HANLIN: Perfect shot.

{Jack pushes a chair in for an old lady}

JACK BAUER: There you go ma'am.

TEDDY HANLIN: Your a sensitive guy Jack.

NINA MEYERS: Teddy, drop it were working.

TEDDY HANLIN: Jack can walk and chew gum at the same time.

JACK BAUER: What do you want Teddy?

TEDDY HANLIN: You hear about Campbell's wife?

JACK BAUER: No.

TEDDY HANLIN: She hung herself. I guess you didn't get the memo. It happened a couple weeks ago. Trying to raise four kids with no pension and a husband in jail. Cause why Jack? You busted him for lining his pockets with a few extra dollars.

JACK BAUER: Teddy I understand why you are upset. If you want when this is over I'd be happy to sit down with you and tell you my side of the story.

TEDDY HANLIN: I'd love to hear your side of the story Jack.

{NINA CALLS MASON}

NINA MEYERS: George, Teddy’s on the open channel hassling Jack meanwhile he's got a rifle in his hands with all these people.

GEORGE MASON: We'll it's to late to swamp him out. This thing is going down any minuet right?

NINA MEYERS: We have to do something.

GEORGE MASON: All right.

{MASON RADIOS HANLIN}

GEORGE MASON: Hanlon, what the hell do you think your doing? You got a problem with Jack bury it. You understand how many agents we have lost today? Let's get on the same page okay?

TEDDY HANLIN: Yes sir.

GEORGE MASON: Good. Jack you all right?

JACK BAUER: Yeah.

GEORGE MASON: Good let's get back to work.

EXT. BAUER HOUSE

{Jovan is hidden behind a tree when CTU agent Williams arrives at the house}

AGENT WILLIAMS: This is Williams. I've arrived at the Bauer house.

INT. RICK'S HOUSE

{Frank throws Rick a beer}

FRANK: Hey stud think fast.

RICK: Thanks. So what deal?

FRANK: We're gonna take the twenty grand you guys made last night and buy some ecstasy.

RICK: What happens if Dan doesn't shoe up?

FRANK: If Dan says he'll be here then he'll be here.

EXT. CALIFORNIA PLAZA

JACK BAUER: {Sees the man walking down some stairs} Hold up I think I got him.

{As the man passes Jack he says YEAH}

MORGAN: Alexis?

JACK BAUER: Yeah.

MORGAN: I told you inside the restaurant.

JACK BAUER: We're doing it out here now.

MORGAN: Why?

JACK BAUER: Because there's a cop inside come on let's get this over with.

MORGAN: Fine...............You got the money?

JACK BAUER: First lets go over it again.

MORGAN: Over what?

JACK BAUER: What your supposed to do for me.

MORGAN: At 7:20 tonight I'm going to shut down the power on grid 26 double G. Five minuets later it comes back up.

JACK BAUER: What else?

MORGAN: What do you mean what else?........................What happened to your accent?......................Your not Alexis.

{MORGAN GETS UP AND RUNS AWAY}

JACK BAUER: He's moving.

{JACK RUNS AFTER HIM}

TEDDY HANLIN: He's running I can take him.

JACK BAUER: {STILL RUNNING} NO he's not a threat I can get him.

TEDDY HANLIN: I'm just gonna slow him down for you.

JACK BAUER: DON'T SHOOT.....DO NOT SHOOT.

TEDDY HANLIN: Just relax Jack.

JACK BAUER: Do not shoot Teddy stand down.

{TEDDY DOES NOT LISTEN AND SHOOTS MORGAN AS HE CRASHES THROUGH A GLASS RAILING AND FALLS TO THE GROUND}

JACK BAUER: NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HANLIN YOU SON OF A BITCH I DON'T YOU NOT TO SHOOT.

NINA MEYERS: STAY BACK STAY BACK. WE NEED A MEDIC.

{Jovan has killed Agent Williams as he sees Phil Parslow and Teri Bauer walk up to the house}

PHIL PARSLOW: This is your house
