Jack Bauer: {Voice Over} Right now terrorists are planning to
assassinate a presidential candidate, my teenage daughter is missing, and the people
I work with may be involved in both. I'm federal agent Jack Bauer, and today is
going to be the longest day of my life.
Jack
Bauer: {Voice Over} The following takes place between 7:00 A.M. and 8:00 A.M.
on the day of the California Presidential primary.

POWER PLANT
{Senator
Palmer's motorcade arrives as we hear a newscaster say}
NEWSCASTER:
It's just after seven A.M. on the west coast and the California primary is
officially underway. We're here outside the San Claratia power plant here in
Los Angeles where Senator David Palmer will be addressing local labor leaders…
{We veer off from the reporter to Jonathan
who is walking toward the plant as his cell rings}
JONATHAN:
Yeh.
IRA
GAINES: Bauer's on his way, you in yet?
JONATHAN:
Just about.
IRA
GAINES: Good.
{Hangs up}

OUT::::
{Jonathan
enters the power plant and is stopped by a aid on the Senator's staff}
JESSICA
ABRAM: Martin Belkin?
JONATHAN:
Yes.
JESSICA
ABRAM: Hi, I'm Jessica Abram, I work for Senator Palmer. It's a pleasure to
meet you. Can I help you with that suitcase?
JONATHAN:
No thanks I got it.
JESSICA
ABRAM: Okay, right this way.
JONATHAN:
Is the Senator here yet?
JESSICA
ABRAM: He's on his way.
{Jonathan comes to the weapons check area where
Agent Pierce is waiting for him}
JONATHAN:
I'm taking some pictures of the Senator today.
AGENT
PIERCE: {Looks at his ID card} {Into
radio} I need a check on a Belkin first name Martin.
AGENT:
{Into Pierce's radio} Clear on Belkin.
AGENT
PIERCE: Copy that......You can go in.
FADE OUT::::::

GAINES COMPOUND GAINES'S OFFICE
{Teri is brought to Ira Gaines}
{Gaines
instructs Jack to turn right and he does}
IRA
GAINES: See the bus stop on your left?
JACK
BAUER: Yeh.
IRA
GAINES: Pull over to it.
{A man sitting on a bench stands up and puts
a briefcase in Jack's car}
IRA
GAINES: Don't touch it until I tell you to, now go.
JACK
BAUER: I'm not going anywhere until I can talk to my wife and my daughter.
IRA
GAINES: Oh you'll do this because it won't be any inconvenience to hurt your
daughter or your wife for that matter. In fact here she is. {To Teri} Would you
like to speak to your husband? Say anything you want, tell him that you love
him.
TERI
BAUER: Jack......
JACK
BAUER: Teri.
TERI
BAUER: I don't know where I am yet and I haven't seen Kimberly
{Gaines pulls her aside]
IRA
GAINES: So you were saying Jack you're not sure you wanted to do
this?..........That's what I thought. San Clarita Power Plant 417 Ridgeway road
get over there now.
{Jack speeds off}
IRA
GAINES: This is only temporary Mrs Bauer, if your husband follows instructions
you'll be released within the hour.
TERI
BAUER: Where's my daughter?
IRA
GAINES: She's here and she's safe.
TERI
BAUER: Take me to her please.
{A couple of Gaines men take her to Kim}

{Gaines
through the computer contacts our CTU agency mole Jamey Farrel. She gets the
instant message on her computer. Jamey grabs her PDA and heads for the
bathroom}
{Gaines
says through a microphone and into Jamey's PDA}

GAINES: Does this kid Milo know he's working on the wrong keycard?
{Jamey
hit's the yes icon}
IRA
GAINES: Is this going to be a problem?
{Jamey
hit's the no Icon}
IRA
GAINES: Nina Myers is dead, make up a story why she's not there.

{Teri
is brought in the holding cell to join Kim}

BAUER: No, no it's not your fault. Why don't you tell me about these boys?
KIM
BAUER: I met them through Janet. She was seeing this guy Dan, then his friend
Rick came into town. We were just hanging out. Janet was hit by a car.
TERI
BAUER: I know. We're going to get through this. I promise you.

{Nina
has found an old shed where luckily she spots a phone as she breaks into
the shed she tries to call Jamey but
she doesn't answer. She then calls Tony and he answers.}
TONY
ALMEIDA: Almedia.
NINA
MYERS: Tony.
TONY
ALMEIDA: Nina, where have you been?
NINA
MYERS: I can't get into it.
TONY
ALMEIDA: Well force yourself. Where are you?
NINA
MYERS: Just east of downtown.
TONY
ALMEIDA: What are you doing there?
NINA
MYERS: Tony, listen to me. No one at CTU can know that I'm alive.
TONY
ALMEIDA: Who would think you were dead?
NINA
MYERS: I can't tell you anymore right now. Where's Jamey?
TONY
ALMEIDA: She's working with Milo.
NINA
MYERS: Get her for me.
TONY
ALMEIDA: Not till you tell me what's going on.
NINA
MYERS: Please Tony this is an order.
TONY
ALMEIDA: All right.
{Tony walks over to Milo and Jamey and
overhears a conversation}
MILO:
This is all just a waste of time when is Nina coming back?
JAMEY
FARREL: Not for a couple of hours.
TONY
ALMEIDA: What makes you say that?
JAMEY
FARREL: I just talked to her.
TONY
ALMEIDA: When?
JAMEY
FARREL: A couple minutes ago, she's at Division. Possible she'll be there all
day. What do you need?
TONY
ALMEIDA: Ah, never mind.
{Tony walks back to his desk and continues
talking to Nina}
TONY
ALMEIDA: Look, if someone doesn't tell me what's going on I'm going straight to
Chapel.
NINA
MYERS: I told you I have to speak to Jamey.
TONY
ALMEIDA: Yeah and I just heard her tell Milo that you were at Division and
might be there all day.
NINA
MYERS: What?..............Oh my God.
TONY
ALMEIDA: What?
NINA
MYERS: Who did she hear that from?
TONY
ALMEIDA: She said she just talked to you a couple minutes ago.
NINA
MYERS: We can't trust Jamey.....Tony you have to bring me in now. Jack said
that CTU had been infiltrated.
TONY
ALMEIDA: Are you saying Jamey's a spy?
NINA
MYERS: I don't know. I have to be brought in.
TONY
ALMEIDA: I'll send a car.
FADE OUT::::::
{Senator
Palmer and Sherry Palmer arrive at the plant and follow secret service into a
elevator.}
{Jack
has entered the building}
IRA
GAINES: {Through earpiece to Jack} All you have to do now Jack is get through
security.
{He comes to the weapons check area}
JACK
BAUER: Jack Bauer CTU, I've been cleared by Frank Simes.
AGENT
PIERCE: You want to open that briefcase for me..........What ya need a laptop
for?
JACK
BAUER: Everything we compiled on Senator Palmer in the last eight hours is in
there.
AGENT
PIERCE: You want to lift that up please..............Turn it on.
IRA
GAINES: Just press any two buttons Jack.
AGENT
PIERCE: All right go ahead.
JACK
BAUER: Thank you......Where is the Senator now?
AGENT
PIERCE: He's on his way.
{Jack makes his way through a crowd of
people.}
{Jessica
Abram spots Jack, they're old friends}
JESSICA
ABRAM: Jack Bauer.
JACK
BAUER: Jessica Abram.
JESSICA
ABRAM: Yeh. Hey. {She hugs him} How are you?
JACK
BAUER: I'm working security.
JESSICA
ABRAM: How many years has it been?
JACK
BAUER: I'm sorry I have to get going.
JESSICA
ABRAM: Hey are you still racing motorcycles?
IRA
GAINES: Keep moving Jack.
JACK
BAUER: Ah, no not since my daughter was born. Look I'd like to catch up but I
have to get going.............What do I do now?
IRA
GAINES: You're going to hand the briefcase to one of our people.
JACK
BAUER: Who?
IRA
GAINES: I'll tell you when it's time. Go wait by the buffet table.
{Gaines on his monitor sees the Senator
arrive into the main floor}
{Jessica
Abram introduces the Senator to who he thinks is Martin Belkin}
JESSICA
ABRAM: Senator I'd like you to meet Martin Belkin.
SENATOR
PALMER: Oh Martin. Glad you could make it.
{They shake hands}
{The
Senator glances over and he makes eye contact with Jack as if he knew who he
was then glances back to Jessica.}

looks out the window as Rick enters}
RICK:
I brought you guys some breakfast.
TERI
BAUER: Who the hell are you?
RICK:
I'm Rick.
TERI
BAUER: The one who kidnapped my daughter
{She attacks him as Kim pulls her off Rick}
{Eli
enters}
ELI:
Gaines wants to go over some things with us...........What's going here Rick?
RICK:
Nothing.
ELI:
It's better if you don't make friends.
RICK:
I wasn't.
ELI:
Good because they ain't gonna be around much longer.
RICK:
What do you mean?
ELI:
Move it.
{Rick and Eli exit}

POWER PLANT
IRA
GAINES: Okay time to move Jack, head across the floor.
{Jack makes his way through the crowd.}
IRA
GAINES: Okay Jack, head towards the south wall.
{He runs into Jessica again}
JESSICA
ABRAM: Jack.
JACK
BAUER: Hey Jess.
JESSICA
ABRAM: Do you remember Tracy Zigler?
JACK
BAUER: Yeh, I just saw her last winter.
{Jack starts to write a note to Jessica
telling her to get Palmer out of here}
IRA
GAINES: Get out of there Jack. {Into radio} Jared take care of this.
{A man bumps into Jessica and gives the get
moving look to Jack}
JARED:
Sorry ma'am, are you okay?
{Jack is forced to keep moving}
IRA
GAINES: Make a left in front of the turbines Jack.
{Jack
comes across a secret service agent}
AGENT:
Identification.
JACK
BAUER: Jack Bauer CTU. {Shows ID.}
AGENT:
Go ahead.
IRA
GAINES: Go to the end. On your left is medical station three.
JACK
BAUER: I'm here.
IRA
GAINES: That's were I want you, go in and wait.
FADE OUT:::::

CTU.
{Tony
opens the back door and lets Nina in}
NINA
MYERS: Is it safe to come in here?
TONY
ALMEIDA: Yeah I looped the cameras. They can't see us.................Why is
Jack doing all this?
NINA
MYERS: They've kidnapped his wife and daughter.
TONY
ALMEIDA: How long have you known this?
NINA
MYERS: Not long.
TONY
ALMEIDA: And you chose not to tell me.
NINA
MYERS: That's right I was acting on orders.
TONY
ALMEIDA: Screw orders.
NINA
MYERS: Tony I'm sorry. Where's Jamey?
TONY
ALMEIDA: She's still working with Milo. So what do you want to do? Call in
Division?
NINA
MYERS: We can't call anyone yet.
TONY
ALMEIDA: We've got to do something, I mean this whole thing is about Palmer,
they're using Jack to what, stop the investigation?
{They enter the ITS room}
TONY
ALMEIDA: We should call secret service.
NINA
MYERS: No, if we do that the people holding Teri and Kim will think Jack gave
the order.
TONY
ALMEIDA: I hate to say it, but it's not our problem. We have one mandate, protect
Palmer. We got to make the call now.
NINA
MYERS: Wait. Jack wouldn't put Palmer's life in danger.
TONY
ALMEIDA: Are you giving me the order not to call secret service?
NINA
MYERS: No, you're right.
{Tony gets a hold of Agent Pierce}
AGENT
PIERCE: This is Pierce.
TONY
ALMEIDA: Yeah it's Tony Almeida at CTU, one of our agents Jack Bauer could be a
threat, take the necessary precautions.
FADE

POWER PLANT MEDICAL STATION THREE
{Jonathan
enters the little room where Jack is waiting. Jonathan opens a briefcase
containing a unassembled sniper rifle.}
JONATHAN:
Assemble it.
JACK
BAUER: You want my prints on this weapon....... Do you really think that anyone's going to believe that I shot
David Palmer?
{Jonathan
takes the gun and puts it into his bag and starts to walk out but not before
Jack holds a gun to Jonathan's head.}
JONATHAN:
You better put that away. Someone could get hurt.
{Jonathan walks out}

ANCHORMAN:
We're watching the Senator work the floor before he gives the speech.
INT.
CTU.
TONY ALMEIDA: Milo, you were right. The
keycard was forged. We found the original.
MILO:
Where?
TONY
ALMEIDA: Jack's office.
MILO:
Why did he swap it out?
TONY
ALMEIDA: Doesn't matter. I sent it down to archive so they can make a backup on
all information on it. When they're done it's going straight to you. You’re
going to have to work quickly.
{Tony walks back to ITS as Nina has a monitor
on Jamey}
NINA
MYERS: She's squirming......She's on the move.
{Jamey walks into the bathroom stall but
Gaines has a monitor of that room so he could see anyone who walks in}
NINA
MYERS: Ladies room second to last stall. These cameras are on a twenty-second
loop.
TONY
ALMEIDA: Am I clear?
NINA
MYERS: Hold
on.................................................................................okay
go.
{Tony enters and grabs Jamey}
TONY
ALMEIDA: Get out. Move it. Now.
{Gaines has no idea what just happened.}

POWER PLANT
{Agent
Pierce approaches the Senator}
AGENT
PIERCE: Sir, we need to get you out of here.
SENATOR
PALMER: Why?
AGENT
PIERCE: There's a problem with a CTU agent.
SENATOR
PALMER: What kind of problem?
AGENT
PIERCE: He could be a threat to you.
SENATOR
PALMER: Well if he's one of ours why don't you find him and take care of this
quietly.
AGENT
PIERCE: We are trying sir.
SENATOR
PALMER: All right. I'll lose the face time but the speech stays. There's
something I have to say this morning.
AGENT
PIERCE: With all due respect sir I think it's a mistake. This information came
directly from CTU headquarters.
SENATOR
PALMER: I'm sure your people will take care of this.
AGENT
PIERCE: {Into radio} All right everyone on the floor listen up, Palmer has
decided to stay. I repeat Palmer will remain. We need to locate a Jack Bauer.
Bauer is five eleven, blonde hair 160 lbs..
AGENT:
I got a possible twenty on Bauer.
AGENT
PIERCE: Hold your position, I'll be right there.

CTU. ITS ROOM
{Jamey
is brought into the room.}
NINA
MYERS: Hi Jamey.
JAMEY
FARREL: What's this all about?
TONY
ALMEIDA: Why don't you tell us.
JAMEY
FARREL: I don't know what you're talking about.
NINA
MYERS: Who were you making contact with in the bathroom?
JAMEY
FARREL: None of your business, it was personal.
NINA
MYERS: Were they the same people who set me up to be killed?
JAMEY
FARREL: Set you up to be killed, what?
TONY
ALMEIDA: Look we don't have time for this.
NINA
MYERS: Jamey, who has Jack's wife and daughter? WHAT ARE THEY MAKING JACK DO?
Richard Walsh is dead, so is Scott Baylor. You're going to be charged with
murder and treason so you better start telling me what's going on.
JAMEY
FARREL: He told me no one would get hurt.
NINA
MYERS: Who?
JAMEY
FARREL: I can't tell you.
TONY
ALMEIDA: TELLING EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS YOUR ONLY WAY OUT OF THIS YOU
UNDERSTAND.
JAMEY
FARREL: I was just supposed to tap into the surveillance systems. Then they started
asking me to send messages from the inside.
TONY
ALMEIDA: WHAT MESSAGES?
JAMEY
FARREL: Mostly about Jack. Then about the keycard. I didn't know any of this
was going to happen, you have to believe that.
NINA
MYERS: We do, now you have to help us. Who are you doing all this for?
JAMEY
FARREL: No, I have to talk to someone first.
NINA
MYERS: WHAT? No, there is no time Jamey. Palmer's exposed and Jack's family is
in danger, you have to start talking to us now.
JAMEY
FARREL: I'm not saying anything until I get agency council.
{Tony cuffs her to the chair}

{Jack overhears the mayor of Los Angeles
introduce the Senator to the stage}

Palmer stands behind the potem and begins his speech. Jonathan excuses himself
and heads for the medical station}
IRA
GAINES: All right Jack step out. I'm ready for ya.
JACK
BAUER: To do what?
IRA
GAINES: Relax, it'll be over in five minutes.
{Jack steps out}
IRA
GAINES: You see the photographer?
JACK
BAUER: Yes.
IRA
GAINES: Go over and join him........After he shoots Palmer he will hand you his
weapon.
JACK
BAUER: You got to be kidding me
IRA
GAINES: I know you'll be tempted to intervene but you must believe me Jack if
you do then your family dies and we'll get Palmer anyway.
JACK
BAUER: I understand.
{Jonathan
aims at Palmer's head. Jack walks next to Jonathan as a secret service agent
says}
AGENT:
Agent Bauer. Allen Hays secret service I need you to come with me.
{Jack is standing in the way of a clean shot
for Jonathan}
{JACK
REACHES FOR THE AGENTS GUN}
AGENT:
GUN..........GUN.
{AGENTS SHELTER PALMER AND HIS WIFE AS THE
EARPIERCE FALLS OUT OF JACKS EAR AND LANDS NEXT TO HIM}
IRA
GAINES: BAUER! WHAT'S HAPPENING, DAMN
IT BAUER DID YOU SCREW ME?
JACK
BAUER: I didn't do this do you understand. Please don't hurt my family.
{GAINES SLAMS HIS HEADSET DOWN}
IRA
GAINES: THAT'S IT, WE'RE DONE KILL THE WIFE AND KID.
{Gaine's
men drag Teri and Kim to two dug up coffin looking holes as Gaines' computer
flashes instant message, he calls Jamey}
IRA
GAINES: What do you want?
JAMEY
FARREL: I just found out division went to pick up Bauer at the power plant.
They have been looking for him all night.
IRA
GAINES: Why?
JAMEY
FARREL: Because he’s been breaking protocol since you got to him.
IRA
GAINES: DAMIT. {Hangs up}
{ON
RADIO}
IRA
GAINES: Eli....................................................................I
still need them alive.
ELI:
Both of them?
IRA
GAINES: Yeh.
{JACK
BAUER IS BEING HANDCUFFED AND WALKED TO AGENT FRANK AIMS FOR QUESTIONING}
