a train on its way to Los Angeles a man is seated at a table. He watches another
man walk towards him looking right at him. The man begins to get scared knowing
what he has in his suitcase is very important.}
{There
seems to be a truck in the middle of the train tracks. THE TRAIN COLLIDES
INTO THE TRUCK AND THE TRAIN EXPLODES. PEOPLE JUMP OUT SCREAMING. One woman
has her foot stuck.}
Woman:
HELP ME....I can't move.
{A
man riding a motorcycle stops next to the train. He gets up of his bike, pulls
out a silenced pistol and kills the woman screaming. He then walks up to the
man that was carrying the suitcase. He is badly injured and can't move. The
man unlocks the chain on the suitcase and puts it on his bike cargo area and
then puts a bullet into the another mans head}

CHOLE:

SARAH:
What's going on?
CHOLE:
I just heard from one of our sources. There's a high probability that someone
fro our F.B.I. watch list was spotted in Los Angeles yesterday.

PULLS UP SOMETHING ON HER SCREEN TO SHOW SARAH}
SARAH:
Tomas Sherak. Who is he?
CHOLE:
He's done some work with several terrorist cells outside Istanbul. He was
suspected of coordinating several suicide bombers last summer.
SARAH:
Istanbul? There was some chatter this morning about a possible terrorist attack
by a group out of Turkey.
CHOLE:
What was the target?
SARAH:
New York or Washington D.C. but the time window has passed. I don't understand.
CHOLE:
Passed? What do you mean?
SARAH:
The target time was for 8:00 a.m. It's already ten passed seven on the east
coast.
SARAH:
What if they meant west coast time?
SARAH:
I'd say something is going to happen at 8:00 this morning.
CHOLE:
Okay. Tell Curtis I'm taking this to Driscoll.
SARAH:
I can take it to her.
CHOLE:
Why is that Sarah?
SARHA:
I thought you would want to keep working it up.
CHOLE:
Stop trying to be Driscoll's pet, she doesn't like that all right?

C.T.U. DIRECTOR ERIN DRISCOLL WALKS DOWN TO CHOLE'S DESK}
DRISCOLL:
A truck loaded with C-4 just took out a train bound for Los Angeles. Free
up some people, Division's going to want an update soon.
CHOLE:
That could be related to what we found downstairs.
DRISCOLL:
And?
CHOLE:
Two things. First, we received information indicating the possibility of an
attack at 8:00 this morning.
DRISCOLL:
That train exploded at seven. That was an hour of your Intel. What was the
second?
CHOLE:
A Turkish national on the F.B.I. watch list named Tomas Sherak was last seen
in the city. He could be related to the bombing.
DRISCOLL:
Okay. Open up some channels with division and district. Work up the bombing
and Sherak. I want to know who he is.
CHOLE:
What about the defense department meeting that's in a half hour?
DRISCOLL:
Who is Secretary Heller sending?
CHOLE:
Jack Bauer.
DRISCOLL:
Jack? Are you sure?
CHOLE:
Yeah. He hasn't been back since you fired him.

BAUER IS FIXING UP HIS TIE AND PUTS ON HIS SPORT COAT AS AUDREY WALKS UP TO
HIM}
AUDREY:
Is it going to be uncomfortable?
JACK
BAUER: What?
AUDREY:
Going back to see Driscoll again.
JACK
BAUER: I don't blame her for making her decision.
AUDREY:
How can that be? I mean she forced you out of CTU.
JACK
BAUER: She didn't want an ex junkie on her staff. It's not unreasonable.
AUDREY:
You weren't a junkie. You were doing your job.
JACK
BAUER: Audrey. I was addicted to heroin.
AUDREY:
So do you miss your old job?
JACK
BAUER: I could have joined other agencies if I still wanted to do field work
but I didn't. I wanted something more in my life.

AND AUDREY KISS}
AUDREY:
Come on. We should get going. Secretary Heller will be in the lobby in five
minuets.
JACK
BAUER: Secretary Heller?
AUDREY:
Yeah. I called him dad once in a press conference.
JACK
BAUER: I want to tell your father about us before he finds out on his own.
AUDREY:
Even though Paul and I are separated, he still thinks we are together. Please
Jack. Let's just give it some more time. Look Jack don't panic but {LONG PAUSE}

CURTIS:
All right, this is what we got so far. A know terrorist by the name of Thomas
Sherak made assurance into the country undetected. We think there's a likelihood
that Sherak helped organize the train bombing. If he did then he's going to
try to get out of the country real soon.
DRISCOLL:
Which means we have a small window of opportunity here. Who's covering the airports and customs?
EDGAR:
I am. I missioned a mandate to LAX, Long Beach and Ontario.
CHLOE:
As usual Edgar we can't hear you. Also where is your laptop in case you have
to pull data?
EDGAR:
I'm sorry I'll speak up. I don't need my laptop. I have everything memorized.
What I was saying is that I have contacted all airports and added extra layers
of security.
DRISCOLL:
Do we have any local contacts for Sherak?
SARAH:
Were looking into that right now.
DRISCOLL:
All right. Promote everything we get to Division. Let's find Sherak before
he leaves the city.
CHLOE:
Miss Driscoll, Do you think it's a mistake thinking he's going to leave the
city?
DRISCOLL:
No I don't.
CHLOE:
But the timing and the Intel don't match up. It said 8:00 a.m. and the train
bombing happened at 7:00.
DRISCOLL:
Just focus on finding Sherak.

So far everything is on schedule.
DINA:
Have you talked to Thomas?
NAVI:
Yes. The briefcase is on its way here. When it's here you'll take it to the
warehouse.
BEHROOZ:
Why doesn't Dar take it there directly?
NAVI:
He doesn't need to know where our people are working. That's the safest way.
BEHROOZ:
I understand.
NAVI:
Listen to me Behrooz...................What we will accomplish today will
change the world. We are fortunate enough that our family has been chosen
to do this. We cannot fail.
BEHROOZ:

MELANIE:
Looks like someone is trying to corrupt the internet. You have to call somebody.
ANDREW:
If I call the feds, they will trace the call. They'll know I was stealing
codes.
MELANIE:
Do it from a payphone.
ANDREW:

An act of terrorism. When you get to CTU, I want you to find out all the details

CHLOE:

Someone on the phone for you.
CHLOE:
Who is it?
EDGAR:
A man named Andrew Paige.
CHLOE:
Fine, put him through.
ANDREW:
Hello?
CHLOE:
Andrew. You know I can't take personal calls here.
ANDREW:
It's not personal. I found something on the net that I think you should know
about.
CHLOE:
What?
ANDREW:
There's a fake net table in several large purport matters that was loaded
this morning.
CHLOE:
How would you know that?
ANDREW:
I was trying to download some software and I noticed it.
CHLOE:
By download I assume you mean steal. Otherwise you wouldn't have even seen
the net table.
ANDREW:
Okay fine. But I hacked deeper and found all this stuff. I think someone is
positioning codes for a world wide internet attack. The language is not in
English.
CHLOE:
What is it?
ANDREW:
Looks like Arabic or Turkish or something.
DRISCOLL:
Find something?
CURTIS:
Yeah, Sarah was working on a list of contacts for Sherak.
SARAH:
This is in flankensone. Maurice Landstrass.
He has a dry cleaner company in studio city.
DRISCOLL:
All right. Give this to Ronnie. Tell him to get over there and see what he
can find.
CHLOE:
Miss Driscoll?
DRISCOLL:
What is it Chloe?
CHLOE:
I just got a call from an old friend Andrew Paige. He noticed that a number
of high internet profiles have been compromised. I think this could be related
to our present threat.
DRISCOLL:
What makes you say that?
CHLOE:
A computer network virus was launched this morning from a server somewhere
in Turkey. That's where Sherak is from. Should I start working it up?
DRISCOLL:
No. The bombing and Sherak is all we need to be dealing with here.

SARAH:

BAUER: Yes. I have a meeting with Erin Driscoll.
CHLOE:

Oh, Mr. Bauer I'm sorry.
JACK
BAUER: No it's fine. Chloe how have you been?
CHLOE:
Not perfect but okay I guess. How are Kim and Chase?
JACK
BAUER: They just got a house in Valencia. Kim's taking care of Angela and
Chase is working for a private security company.
CURTIS:

JACK
BAUER: Curtis. Is everything ready for our meeting?
CURTIS:
Yeah. But I should tell you it might cut out a little early today.
JACK
BAUER: The train bombing?
CURTIS:
Among other things.
JACK
BAUER: What other things?
CURTIS:
I don't want to bore you with it.
RONNIE:
We're out.
CURTIS:
Okay. We'll have you in voice 3 data 4. Ronnie.

No, not just that. Langley's been picking up some chatter this morning. We
also have Intel on some people from our watch list that got into the country
today.
HELLER:
Well don't wait for the NTSP people. Increase the state of readiness.
KEELER:
I'm meeting with Director Shea in a few minuets. I'll see what he has to say
about this.
HELLER:

Well as the department of defense, He's asking for 85% of all interagency
moneys. Which leaves very little for CTU.
JACK
BAUER: If you want anything bigger you're going to have to justify it.
DRISCOLL:
Look I'll talk to Heller myself about it.
JACK

BAUER: I know this guy?
DRISCOLL:
Sherak?
JACK
BAUER: Yeah, we were watching him when I was here.
DRISCOLL:
Unfortunately we weren’t able to stop him for today's attack, but we did catch
him.
JACK
BAUER: Erin listen to me. This doesn't make sense. I know this guy's file.
He's a major handler. He wouldn't risk exposing himself here in the United
States for a train bombing. It's not big enough.
DRISCOLL:
I'll take that into consideration when we interrogate him. My best regards
to Secretary Heller.

WALKS OVER TO CHLOE}
JACK
BAUER: Chloe?
CHLOE:
What?
JACK
BAUER: The original data you pulled on Sherak, was there any indications of
a secondary strike?
CHLOE:
No. Everything supports that he was here for the train bombing. There was
a time discrepancy.
JACK
BAUER: What do you mean?
CHLOE:
There was some chatter this morning about an attack at 8:00 a.m. The train
bombing happened at 7:00 a.m.
JACK
BAUER: They didn't give any window? They called for a specific time?
CHLOE:
Yeah.
JACK
BAUER: What's your login and I.D. password?
CHLOE:
You can't do that.
JACK
BAUER: Chloe please.
CHLOE:

{JACK KNOCKS OUT THE GUARD AND JAMS THE LOCK CODES FOR THE HOLDING

RONNIE:

PULLS OUT HIS GUN AND POINTS IT TO SHERAK}

OUT OF A TRUCK WEARING SKI MASKS. THE MEN SHOOT DOWN SECRET SERVICE AGENTS.
THEY GRAB AUDREY AND HELLER AND THROW THEM INTO A VAN. }
AUDREY:
NO....NO........JACK, HELP US PLEASE, JACK.........................

BAUER: AUDREY????? NO DAMIT.
